My daughter has just moved into a 1 bed flat with her partner and baby. She has got her water bill in for the year and it was £243.48.She phoned them up as it said a 2 bedroom. They told her it did not matter.I am metered so have not got a clue.Any one with a 1 bedroom flat that can help or does it differ all over the country?

Hi Grannie of 12,
when i lived in a 2 bedroomed flat my water rates were £32 .43 a month
then in 2008 i moved to a 2 bedroomed bungalow and the rates just shot up to £44 .22( and have gone up every year ),when i phoned the water board to ask why they just said it was because of the acreage to which i answered it's still a 2 bedroomed place, one bathroom one kitchen same as the flat i was told that was the price and nothing they or i could do about it .
So now that my water bill has gone up again this year i'm now going onto a water meter .

I believe that, as long as you have the permission of the landlord, you can have a meter fitted. My work colleague did, and I'm considering it!!
