It isn't a hoax, it is a genuine Windows Message. As I said earlier, if it starts appearing suddenly without warning, check for viruses and malware, just in case it is a trojan that has found its way onto your PC.

hi darkie, i had that message last night and had never seen it before. i just clicked no and everything is fine. i am with tiscali. i reg scan with norton(every day) and have no viruses. my son is always defragging and deleting temp files, so i know the comp is running ok.

i did wonder if it was a hoax. one time the comp said we had a trojan and my engineer said there was nothing at all, it was a scam.

if your comp is up to date with things and you have good security, i wouldnt worry too much.

OK, I get it too: if I click "no" everything seems to continue as normal. I am on Waitrose, so it seems to have rather little to do with who one's Provider is.
Cheers

It does come up now and again it is basically IE telling you that something is taking too long to execute. It is best to select 'No' in case it it is a malicious script. Sometimes it is down to poor programming of the web page. Often it disappears just disappears on its own.

Try installing the latest version of IE and make sure your version of Javascript is up to date. Ensure that you have windows updates enabled

Do a scan in case you have become infected - Trojans can cause this message to appear. Malwarebytes is a good program to use.

If all appears up to date and your PC is clean, you could try changing the time-out time-out value. This is some info from Microsoft on the subject.

You could also try another browser such as Firefox or Chrome.

Good Morning Everyone

When I go into Internet Explorer and going into my E-mails through Alta Vista and also Google I get this following message up and I have never seen it before so I don't know what to do.

The message is: Stop running script? A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer might come unresponsive. Then underneath it has Yes/No, and I have put No each time.

(I have re-booted my computer and still get the error message on the
e-mail applications).

I hope someone will be able to give help and advice when they are free.

Thank you very much in advance.
