If your Grandmother remarried, also consider that her first husband may have died. Do you know for a fact that her maiden name was Flynn? PH

If you find your mother or your father's birth (whichever one is the child of Evelyn) then the birth reference will have her maiden name - unless you are already certain that Flynn was her maiden name.

I doubt that you will be able to find divorce records online. You can have a 10 year search done for a divorce from the Principal Registry of the Family Division in London but it costs about £40.

Good luck! As far as divorce is concerned, it wasn't possible unless both parties consented before about 1973 or 1974. (Unbelievable, I know.) Before that good cause had to be proven such a adultery or whatever. I'm not sure of all the details but it certainly wasn't as "easy" then as it is now. Good luck with your research.

My grandmother, Evelyn Chapman was alive and well in 1936 at 70 Sedley Street Liverpool, but that is all I am sure of. She probably would have been approx. in her 30's at the time. I need to find her date of death. So far, we have found an Evelyn Chapman(nee Flynn) born in 1898 and a marriage in 1916, which could be her, but I don't know when she died. It is possible she may have divorced and remarried....how can I find out?
