It does seem a shame - but if its a choice of keeping something old or paying the mortgage/rent?? :O

If anyone is thinking about selling gold, scrap or otherwise, don't use those TV advertised places - they've a terrible reputation for giving poor rates. Better off touting them around to a number of jewelers who might be interested.

The gold 'spot price' at 1601 today, is about £916 per troy ounce/£29 per gramme. London Stock Exchange (bullion) at 1611 gives USD 1508 per ounce.

NO WAY

Kay????

Kay???? Report 11 May 2011 17:14

that is misleading as the stock prices are for 100% pure ,,,,,any jewellery is a mix so the price offered by shops and buyers is far cry from what someone may think.

min buying of 9ct is about £7 -8 grm -
max £10 and pence.--

any gem stone are discounted in weighting.!!

also none Englsh hallmarked gold is also marked down in scrap price,,,,,,

surly sovereigns are worth more as a coin and not just a blob of scrap gold.
