I wasn't blaming your grandson Shirley because I remember you saying that the company expected the drivers to help, so it's good that things are going ahead which will make all companies take more care I hope. At least the ones involved this time will know they can't put the drivers in danger and will have to put all training in place to cover any eventualities.

No money will make up for the pain and suffering and difficulties Jamie will face at time tho but it will help a bit I expect and he might need private physio later on.

Best of luck to him and glad his employers are being decent about things. They should have insurance in place to cover things like this anyway I think.

The firm where it happened has given a honest report to the Health & Safety about the accident They are in the wrong because they expect the drivers to assist in loading and unloading which they shouldn't do as they're not trained . Jamie is suing both his employer and the firm on the advice of a solicitor . His employer isnt holding that against him though as its the way things are done. The thing is this particular customer gets uppity if a driver wont help and sometimes refuses the load which then gets the driver in trouble with Jamie's employer. Its a bit of a round robin and guidelines will now have to be put in and kept too for the drivers safely

Great that he has recovered well enough to get back to work and I am glad his boss is helping him as much as possible.

Has anything been done about the place he was loading from where he had the accident, sounds as tho they were negligent in not making sure proper practices were upheld etc

I expect he will be extra careful in future and I hope his workmates will take care too, not to do anything which isn't 'by the book' so no one else has such a nasty accident.

It's great that he has been able to go back to work and good that his firm seem to be helping towards his return.

I'm sure he will feel more useful now that he can continue much of his pre-accident routine..

Oh that is great Shirley. He will feel much better to be back working. and he must be a valkued employee as it sounds as if his employer has done everything to help him. All the best to him

Those who may remember me posting about our Jamie's accident may remember he lost a finger and damaged his thumb on his right hand,
Well he has gone back to work today, Saw the Plastic Surgeon yesterday who said basically he wants to wait for the thumb to heal completely before deciding whether further surgery needed.
The top of the thumb is bent over and he cant straighten it because the tendon is too short, They may try to loosen up the tendon at later date. The ring finger stump from the first joint has healed nicely although its still swollen. He was told he can go back to driving so he went back to work today.
His employer has given him a brand new lorry which has better controls for driving and better cargo sheets that he can tighten down with his limited grip on his right hand..

He was getting so bored at home so is glad to get back to some sort of normality
