It was an Aussie program a few years back. Wasn't on for long because it apparently didn't get the ratings. They had a follow up program and for some people it did work out although some remained more like friends than family. One man had told his daughter that he only agreed to meet her because he would be on the telly and his grandchildren would see him. When she said what about her children he said 'no - my real grandchildren'. He had remarried and had another family and this poor woman and her family just didn't count. Heartbreaking =I |

I know of a few who after contacting their parents/siblings were left with more heartache than was initially felt.....and the hurt did not go away, sometimes making things worse. |

Sadly, you're right Susanwithnumbers. I watched a follow up of reunions on the telly and once over the excitement and emotions of that first meeting there were many issues to overcome. One woman couldn't get over the fact that she was put up for adoption while her parents kept her older sister and then they went on to have 2 more children. |

They should also tell us about the ones who 'didn't' want to know........just to even it out a bit.....Cos I know of many who do not want to know for some reason or other.......Tis not as simple as they make it out to be. |
