Lovely, can't beat fresh strawberries or raspberries.
I read that because of the early april sunshine its going to be a bumper year for strawberries and supermarkets are selling more English ones than imports. :D

Well done Chris,

No strawberries here as it.'s been pouring with rain all day in Scotland, in fact it's rained for a fortnight but then it's not the end of the world ;-) as we have no water shortages either. :S

Well I am sort of south of the country, funny because last year they were really good, my tomatoes are not looking very promising either.

Gardening a funny old thing I know OH takes runners off his plants and then replants a new bed every 3 years or so.

Hope you haven't made the blackbirds too happy, Chris!

They're netted and organic slug pellets down Wend - now have to remind OH to throw the old net curtains around the cherry tree in a few weeks time - starlings have been known to strip it in an afternoon!

All these things, Chris, we have to keep one step ahead of them all of the time don't we? The pigeons demolish my cherry trees and then the squirrels get all the walnuts off the walnut tree - can't do anything about it, they're too high :-(

I dug the first spuds yesterday. Little subterranean orgasms!

I usually do runners, but these are new plants from next door neighbour, think I will have to shoot him tomorrow lol

Of course the spuds were dug under proper supervision. We have a wide path so the wheelchair can reach all parts so the old man can more easily interfear! He doesn't get involved with my containers by the back door.

A couple of times last week he rolled down the garden to supervise the pulling of radishes and shallots at the spring onion stage which we had for lunch with a piece of cheese and some bread and butter.

These made the most sumptuous meal. It tasted like the essence of what it is all about. It was just a pity we had bought the bread and not made it.

Theres nothing better than picking and eating something you've grown and nurtured from a seed. :D
Makes all the backache and stiff joints worth it.
