Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to live close to a small electricity substaion, the type that would power a street.
We might be moving to a house which has a small garden with a station at the end. I have looked online and there seems to be links with serious health problems, I have an 11 year old son so am worried. Does anyone on here live close to one?

we have one in our garden too , never really thought about the problems so would be interested too see an answer xx

Yes, I wonder when I Google health problems associated with substations what is fact and what is fiction?
I have found a good one on line, woman buying a flat with a substation less than 50 foot away called the electricity company out to test the levels of EMF and the substation tested as giving off less then some household appliances such as her fridge!
I have just bought an EMF meter of Ebay so will test the property.

There is a lot of scare mongering going on here.

You are at more risk from exposure to Electro Magnetic Radiation sitting in front of your computer, or even worse from your microwave cooker if you stand anywhere near it when heating your meat pie.

I have calmed down now about it all and agree that the risks to health are slim to 0. I certainly don't want to pass up an ideal house over it.
