please has anyone got an HP officejet J4680, or similar printer.?

Mine makes a clunking noise when it is setting itself up to print, then just feeds through a blank sheet. There are now a load of pages in the print queue.
It is only 14 months old, and just out of warranty. my previous HP did the same thing after 5 years but the carriage was damaged.
I thought some one on GR may have had similar problems and been able to diagnose and fix it, as my local PCworld haven't a clue about printers. they just sell them.

Thanks to any knowledgeable person who can fix this for me.

ps -- it is wired up OK and switched on,

I have a 6310, and it does clunk.

Has anything happened to make it not your default printer, for instance? So the print jobs just aren't getting to the printer.

Try googling this

Wellll...

Here's one probably useless suggestion

I dunno, but if you do the google search and browse the results, you might find something.

I had an HPIIPplus laser for about 10 years ... cost $1000 at the time, but what a workhorse. They don't make 'em like ...

gosh, that was a quick response Janey.

the lad at PC world said it sounded ok to him, but even if they all clunk the idea is for the silly machine to print.
It doesn't seem to make any difference whether it is the default or not.

Tomorrow is a new day and I'll try your suggestion. Thank you.

Although I can't help with your problem I thought I let you know I have just gone back to a HP printer. I fell for the Kodak ads for cheap ink what they don't tell you is that the printer head cost £80 and doesn't last much past 9months.

Barry, thank you.

It is purring nicely tonight - no clunking or blank pages. I've printed a page which came out OK. There is loads of ink and I'll do a cleaning / maintenance. .

Would it still be your advice to download the latest driver and do an uninstall? or should I now leave well alone? If I do the download wrong, being technically inefficient, can you come and fix it for me?

Janey, sorry I didn't get back to you with a result. 'm not rude, just been in bed most of the day.
