Has anyone visited here, and is it worth a trip to?

All reviews appreciated thanks

No, never been there.

But those imposing pictures must surely make it worth a visit.

We went a couple of years ago and loved it, well worth a visit. Lovely pub in the village where they sell great food as well.

but if you go to Lindisfarne please please please study the crossing times - widely published - there are so many cases of expensive rescues.. Mostly visitors who don't accept how deep the crossing gets and how very fast the tide comes in.

Bamburgh is a lovely village, the Castle is splendid inside and out, it and the coast are very photogenic - and to add to the attractions Stephen has added has some fascinating archaelogy in progress, and just down the coast Seahouses has boat trips to the Farne Islands (where the puffins on my icon were photographed (not by me!)

Stayed in Seahouses last year - went on all the trips already mentioned and had a wonderful time - also have puffin photos - I had wondered if that is where Elizabeth's photo was taken.

I agree with everything that has been said,I was up there again last August

The people are very friendly ( I would say that being from the same area).

Have a crab sandwich on Holy Island ! , they are beautiful.

Try to go to Berwick on Tweed. The people there speak with a Scottish accent, It's fascinating. Well it was in Scotland once, but we won't rake that up here, we're all friends, go and enjoy yourself and I hope the weather is good.

P.S. Alnwick Castle is worth a look, I loved it never mind the hundreds of kiddies there, I could see Harry Potter flying around on his magic stick.
(well in my imagination)

YES everyone should visit Northumberland's beautiful coastline,..from Tynemouth up to Berwick ,miles and miles of golden sands... so many historical and interesting places to visit.

Along with places mentioned there's also Hadrian's Wall,Vindalando and Housesteads....Roman Fort and museum.,set in fabulous countryside.
and with more castles than any other county.

Also Cragside House in Rothbury (the first house in the world to be lit by hydro-electricity.)
Not forgetting Lindisfarne..........and much,much more

Mau :-D

I agree with everything everyone has said about the North East ( my adopted Area).
Also visit Craster to see the kippers being smoked and Alnwick itself. There is so much to see and do you will not be bored.

Not sure what Sylvia is implying about Scotland and the Scots !!!!!

Robert lol
Is the Grace Darling Musem easily accessed by foot, and much of a walk, as I don't drive.

Berwick DID once belong to Scotland, I read it on the lookout tower in Berwick. Didn't learn that at school tho!!

Mauatthecoast Report 10 Jun 2011 14:08

Yes Mau,

Berwick does belong to "you", but the people in Berwick don't know which they would prefer - you or us.

Berwick Rangers play in the Scottish Football League and Berwick Rugby Club play in Scotland!!!
