After all that my mother rings me to say she had it in a pile of papers! She was adamnnt she didn't have it. Oh what a relief! :-D

From the GRO site
Priority service: orders will be despatched the next working day following receipt of your application, if ordered before 4.00 pm Orders placed on a Friday wont be processed til the following Monday

If you were born local then a visit to the local register office you can get one or call the office where born most can do 2/3 day delivery , or pick up in person,,,,,,,,, but if like lots you may need to phone first to get opening times cost is £10 ,,,,,,,GRO.gov online aswell but they take about a week to come unless you pay for express processing fee which from GRO is about £22+

You can order it by phone from the GRO and pay extra for its delivery .depends though when you need it as they dont work weekends.

I think this is the right place to ask about this. I have lost my birth certificate and need it for next week. How do I go about getting a replacemanr quick?
