This story was headline news in so many tabloid newspapers a few years back. I remember Portugese friends of mine being outraged at the way it was reported as they could see he had been misrepresented and hung out to dry on the back of it. Here is a small example of how the press just blindly go with a story for maximum impact....with no investigation...(it was reported in pretty much all the papers though)

Now...so much time has passed and the damage has been done.....there's a tiny link on the BBC website...which hardly anyone will ever see. stating that it was incorrect....not ONE word of retraction from any of the newspapers...even though he was called, amongst other things a *ranting rat*.

Nice eh? That's why I don't believe our papers are fit to wipe up dog p** with. *rant over* :-D

The pages are still there and so they should be ( I don't believe in removing what was written in newspapers) However, there should be as Muffy says an equally long page apologising for what they've said.
