For some reason,my email address now shows my name when I send anyone mail.
I've no idea what I have done. Can anyone advise me on how to get back to normal please?? :-D

If you mean your name in the GR network - you will have to go to the My Account board and change the name on the Message Board Name entry. I had to do this very recently - my messages were on the boards as from "Elizabeth" but my surname appeared on the form for any PMs. I only changed it as there seemed to be a lot of Elizabeths on the boards at the time! So I called myself as you will see Elizabeth with my membership number, and that is all that comes up if you try to send me a PM

Given the mention of 'email address' I get the impression she is talking about her email account. not GR?

Need more information in order to offer any helpful suggestions.

Ah. CCookie ,I think you have something there. I dont use hotmail anymore but the other day I went into a site I am a member of and that could be the reason.
I was in my Ya*** account,not been there for a while and I think I had given a H/mail address at one time. Oh I'm getting confused myself here lol

I have found a section entitled under my account , "Edit personal information "...which is where my full name is, I suppose one could change that to a pseudonym or maybe initials only? you can't leave it blank though , I've just tried and its a required field.

edit, no you can't just use initials, still shows full name .

I cant find my account :-S

Just realised I have a few other emails from other people with their names showing.
I'm going google eyed here. I'm going to log off for the night.

Hi Marion,
On Yahoo accounts go to options (top right of Yahoo mail screen) then select mail options, select accounts (left of screen) an accounts list will come up showing Yahoo mail and Yahoo mail additional accounts select Yahoo mail. A box will show your “From” name change it and click save changes.

On Hotmail click Profile (top right) then select Details from left of screen, alongside your name click Edit and change as required you can change who sees your name.

I assumed that recieved emails have ones name in the manner that the sender has listed you in their contacts?

I'm with aol and for some reason my name was on that.I havent changed anything....very odd. I've now changed it back and sent myself an email to test it out...and it works..

One thing I did wonder was. I keep getting emails from my sons email and he isnt sending them. I just delete them as they have links to click on. first time I got one I opened it and Norton sorted it out.
It is only going to another two in his address book.

When I come back in my second life,I'm going to be a computer expert lol.

Hi Marion

The same thing as you sons happened to a contact of mine - I guessed they were dodgy as friend always puts something in the subject box but it was blank. I believe changing his password will stop these type of emails.

Your name will appear on recieved emails in whichever way the sender has listed you in their conctacts list.
