Thanks for that Ria, certainly gives us some ideas.
I havent been to Derbyshire for years, we chose it because we are a group 9 that were at Uni together and are spread all across the country so it seemed like a good central location!!
it looks like a lovely area!

Thank you again x

Hi Julia
You might like to visit Bakewell to sample the Bakewell Pudding, but whatever you do,don't call it a Bakewell Tart. The river Wye is very clear here and you can watch the fish, whilst having a picnic.
There are many beautiful historic houses closeby, Chatsworth * Haddon Hall etc.
If you don't mind travelling a little further, you could visit Castleton, with its caves, (famous for the mineral Blue John). One of the caves has a really interesting name. Also Ladybower Dam (where the dambusters were said to have practiced with the bouncing bomb). There is a museum dedicated to the dambusters in one of the towers (you may have to google when open, it only used to be Sundays). If you fancy a bit of history, what about a visit to Eyam (the plague village).
Other than that there are antique shops, tea rooms or if you are more energetic rock climbing, walking (try and see Mam Tor), Thors Cave at Wetton. Carsington Water. The list is endless, all depends on how energetic you feel. You may like to hire bikes and follow the Tissington Trail.

Have a google and see what takes your fancy.
Hope you have a good time whilst you are in Derbyshire.

Ah the Heights of Abraham Julia,I remember it well!!!!

My youngest had gone on a School residential trip in year 5 to Derbyshire and had a great time and visited the above mentioned.

So keen was he to return we took the caravan and off we went.

The Heights of Abraham is a brilliant place to vist. We went up by cable car and visited a mine, and took in all the sights.

Son said we could walk down and he knew the way......

Its ok to walk down if you are a mountain goat :-D
Very steep so if you are walking up or down make sure you have a sturdy pair of trainers on and avoid any summer type footwear. lol

Is your (Cambs ) Cambridge?
It takes me an hour to the park and ride from where we live. Lots of nice shops there :-D
