Well I'm glad to see that proposed plea bargaining has been dropped here in UK,,,,,**plead guilty** and half you sentance,,,

views....

To me thats like saying,,ok you did it, but we'll overlook some serious parts of the full extent of your crime .!!

also the proposed to televise *some* court cases......it woud be nice to have a good old hiss and boo at the screen and see if you reach the same verdict--------guilty oft wiv their head.,,,, :-D :-D :-D

I am totally against the 'plea bargaining', and there's no evidence to suggest that any form of bargaining has produced an early 'guilty' plea anyway. With that and the proposal to televise some court cases, it looks like we are heading for an American style of legal system, which to me is more about the lawyers than justice for the victims. (only my perception).

I wasn't keen on the idea but I'm starting to wonder why we have MPs - they come up with ideas, the media makes a big hooha and the ideas get dropped. Seeing as we don't seem to have many politicians with any guts or conviction perhaps we should just let the papers make the laws.

I'm also glad it was scrapped...however what I did learn is that in some cases there is already a 33% reduction for entering a guilty plea...so I'd like them to go even further and do away with that as well !! x

I would like to see them do away with the idea of giving prisoners time off their sentence for good behaviour. Everyone should serve their full sentence and anyone with bad behaviour should have extra time added on. If we don't have enough prison places to do this then we should build more prisons - there are enough builders out of work who could do this.

Extra days are added if they misbehave and their parole is affected as defered ,,,,,,,but I think a guilty plea could send out the wrong message that a lesser sentance is gained, so everyone who commits a crime can be sure of only serving half of whats given and they will be pleading guilty right left and centre,,,,,,,unless they are innocent of course ......,,as was the proposal....

I would look at it the other way, if you have lied to the police there is an additional tariff added!
