TonyOz

TonyOz Report 23 Jun 2011 03:06

An Aussie by default Susan ;-)

Those names i'm researching, were immigrant's to Oz from the early1800s ( my Greats )

5th gen Aus on my mothers side.....and 2nd gen on my fathers.

Were your family from the U.K, did they sail across the sea.
Perhaps your mother came from Ireland, in a town they called Tralee.
Or maybe they were Scott's, and you had roots in Inverness,
or your dad was born a Welshman in the big town of Cardiff.

Did your granny come from Yorkshire and walk the Yorkshire moors.
Was your pop a numerator that knocked upon the doors.
Did they marry up in Edinburgh or was it Aberdeen,
cant find it on the registers their no where to be seen.

Perhaps they both were publicans in Ireland's County Down,
But your father he remembers growing up, in Glasgow town.
And your mothers, fathers, cousin, says so, when he comes a round,
that they all were Cornish miners, and they worked the underground.

Was great grandad born in Gloucetershire in Bourton-on-the-Hill.
It says so on the records that the family owned a Mill.
But the census numerator says from Ireland he did roam,
and born and bred in County Cork and kissed the Blarney stone.

And great grandma birth certificate says she was born in Kent.
Along the cliff's of Dover was where her childhood spent.
But her sister Kate was baptised in a church in Worstershire,
with her brother born in Birmingham, during a census year.

And your two by great grand-mother was from the Isle of Mull.
She married two by great grandad in Yorkshire, (Town of Hull).
They moved across to Lancashire an opened up an Inn,
Had 14 kids in Liverpool,.... Liver-pud-li-ans.

So were your family from the U.K, did they sail upon a Brig
Was ya granny born in Essex,or did she do the Irish Jig.
Perhaps they were from Scotland, and used a Farkle stick.?
I bet they all were Londoners,....its London to a brick.

Or are you just an Aussie kid like me who feels he's lost the plot.
From Cornwall up to Caithness, they moved around a lot.
From Norfolk to old Pembrokeshire,or perhaps an Irish plot.....
I'm a multicultured Aussie,English,Welshman,Irish,Scot.....:-D
Author...Me :-D

Lunch time here ( midday )....so off to the pub for a counter lunch.

Av a good un :-D
