And there is a young dear laying in the grass....It is right outside my diningroom window....Its not hurt as it has just got up to eat....Its strange seeing it as i am right next to a railway track and the A36.....

One was seen here last year so I am wondering if it is the same one...I have just taken a photo of it.....

Island Report 25 Jun 2011 18:57

Lucky you Jules! What a privilege!

I don't think it is a baby with those antlers though.
It's a male Roe Deer. They only grow to about 80cms/32" tall at the shoulder which makes them seem young and cute :-)

Hi Jude,

Deer are very sweet to watch.

We have had monkjack Deer come into our garden from the feilds near the back of us.

The only problem is they like to eat anything which is in their reach. :-D

without even having to leave home
:-)
Take care

Lucky sight Jules. How lovely !
We stopped at a motorway motel once on our way home from the Midlands. During the night I looked out of the window and 2 deer were strolling in the gardens.
I was worried about them being so close to traffic, but they seem quite calm and hopefully wandered off in the direction of the fields and woodland instead.

Muntjac deer are often a nuisance in Norwich city centre, they make their way into places and can't get out again. One got stuck in a sort of gully round the old hospital building some years ago and had to be helped free and they do that in other places too, bit too bold and then end up trapped.

Lovely creatures, deer but the muntjac are destructive and people are turning against them.
