If so did / does it help you?

I can't venture out because the pollen count is so high. i will try anything lol, but the masks I 'm looking at are expensive if they don't work and I can't find any reviews.

I found 2 Piriton in one go twice a day and Benlin worked when it was really bad,I used to have like flu symptons, and 85 outside I had a quilt and gas fire on !!!,,,,,windows shut and couldnt hang washing out due to the pollen,,after 2 days reduced tabs to just 1 twice a day......I tried all the hayferver pills but piriton was the only one that worked,,,,,,,,Ive not had it bad for a few years now,,,just mild ,nose eyes and throat but I can live with that,,,,,,,,,

I know when pollen count is high, I waken coughing. I find an air cooler in the lounge with windows shuts helps. I also use a hand fan when out.
It is my chest/breathing in trouble with pollen. In spite of my inhalers GP adv ised a few weeks ago to use an anti-histimine.

Rose if it is sneezing etc - vaseline around the nostrils can help.

Thank you Kay and Chris,

I'm taking Benadryl this year, changed from previous tablets because they were one a day and by late afternoon had worn off, these I can take more of, but find I doze off with them lol.

I hate not being able to garden, but lots of trees and a park behind us (which looks nice but doesn't help) even if not much in the garden as yet. Hence me thinking about trying the masks so I could do the garden if only perhaps for an hour at a time .

I'll try the vaseline tomorrow Kay, And buy a fan next week, hot house with no windows open!

I have a injection in March & would be lost without it, the only thing now is that more Drs don't like giving them :o((

we all use nasal sprays with antihistamines in this house . we have found the nasal sprays the best thing since sliced bread. they have made a huge difference . my son has asthma and epilepsy as well and the nasal sprays have had a great impact on his life. so if you dont use them give them a try . we are off to a vintage show in a grass field surrounded by lots of trees in the welsh countryside today and looking forward to it , this would not have been the case without the nasal sprays :-D :-D

I have found my asthma has been worse these last few days, its the tree pollen.Dont use the nasal spray much now as after some days use I start to get blood spotting, only use it if nose wont stop running.
Are you certain you dont have asthma? Thats what it sounds like to me and maybe you should attend a respiritory clinic. Ask your GP.

I've not used the nasal sprays so I might give that a try. Thanks for all the advice ladies :-)

I had a very bad reaction to oil-seed rape for a few years and would wear a diposable dust mask if I went out in the car.

New Era combination H was what I took. Every half hour I think for a couple of days and then the normal dose. Don't try Preparation H,it does nothing for hay fever!

The first time I had hay fever it was like flu and I was 30 odd then. It is very mild now and doesn't bother me, I do cough a lot if I pass a field with the car window open but it leaves me alone at home.

Beconase nasal spray does it for me, I still sneeze a little, but it's not the debilitating attacks of sneezing, runny eyes, itching eyes (and ears which in turn makes the throat itch) that I'd get without it. We've had warning of this heatwave so taking piriton tabs twice a day as well for a couple of days beforehand has at least made it bearable.

Haven't tried a mask for hay fever, but do wear a mask to go out, it's the only way not to scare the neighbours....lol :-D
