You should try living next door to a sandwich shop, across the road we also have a chippie and a pizza shop.

We have the stink of cheap bacon.sausages, burgers all day,and just when the sandwich shop closes, the other two open.

As well as the stink,we get all the litter thrown in our gardens.

I hope you do not mind me butting in LadyAugusta, but i have been waiting for the sunshine all week following a summer cold and rain,

Today thankfully we get the sun ! lovely sat out all day dreaming i was in the country side, easy to do in our garden because of neighbours tree,s and bushes it was heaven!!
Came on here and could,nt believe it when you said you live in the country and were baking all that lovely food, and you sit under the tree painting,
Bliss!!
I always smell cheese and fresh milk when i think about the country side,
I do not know what it is but i can really relax when i am there.
Made my day thank you! i feel much better.

How lovely for you - your own patch of countryside in your back garden and imagination Florence :-)

Despite our moans about built up areas, it's amazing how much 'greenery' there actually is

My neighbours are considerate as well they always make sure what ever they plant does not annoy you in anyway ( such as blocking out light ect,

Most of us are like that in our street. helps to keep the peace.

I must admit it is a peaceful street. Odd moment or two!! but mostly
from passing people.

Back to reality having my tea! guess what? i got out a jar of jam!!!
and scones could not resist when they were mentioned yum!

hi all
i also live in the country surrounded by open fields with the odd farm dotted around, yes it can be smelly sometimes, but what i would really love is to be able to sit on my patio in the glorious sunshine, but no,here in anglesey we hardly see the sun(its freezing today,,so much for the tropical weather)i have not been able to sit on the patio and breathe the lovely air yet without a coat or wooly jumper.lol. so all of you who dont like the smells of summer, think of me shivering on my patio,at least you have the sun.xx :-D :-D :-D

It's not so much the BBQ's I object to, but the fluid they use to light it!!!
......and, if they want to talk to each other - why don't they turn the bl**dy music down, instead of shouting above it!!!

I just love the fact that my neighbours (both sides) go into the garden to make a 'private' phone call - at about 90 decibels!! :-S

Lee Report 27 Jun 2011 08:21

Why yes Lee, what would you like Strawberry or Rapsberry (with or without seeds). I am going to make some scones plain, cheese and sultana, now where did I put the cream ????

I have a large freezer in the SH so I do all my baking on Sunday's, today I am cooking outside.

The tree in my picture is in our top field, I sit under it most days and have my lunch and do some painting

LA
Iv'e packed my bags LA and i'm off to the train stn see you soon ;-) ;-)

i dnt mind the BBQ smell, its the spiders i ahte in summer lol

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 27 Jun 2011 11:23

BBQs are only temporary though, the smell only lasts as long as people are cooking. Not keen on the smell when they first light it, but as said, it doesn't last long, unlike the local chippie etc.

Maggie, I have neighbours like you, making 'private' calls on their mobile outside, what's the point? And why do they always have to shout? :-(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Jun 2011 11:41

Fortunately all we who have barbecues in this small area seem to have the gas ones so no fuel smell, just food.

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 27 Jun 2011 11:49

iv always wondered, the gas ones, isnt it just the same as cooking it in the oven??

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 27 Jun 2011 11:58

Its not the same, you need the smoke from the charcoal (and oak chips that I used to put on, to flavour the food, that's the attraction. Gas ones, well you might as well cook in the kitchen.

Yes i did enjoy the scones Lady Augusta, Thank you!

You,re making me hungry again!! and you are your own boss how exciting .
I can take a barbacue or leave it ? not too bothered if my neighbours have one, but then again i do not have troublesome neighbours.

Would love a cottage though. Like to potter in garden and walk in countryside but thats it !!
i,m retired so i would like now to relax and enjoy my grandchildren.

good luck with your cooking skills and enjoy your country life.

Flo,,,,,,,,,p.s. really hungry now!!
