Hi All,
Has anyone printed their tree?
Would like to know how it comes out in printed form,I.E. Does it show the pink & blue boxes,or just the names & all the info & any photo's that might of been added?? As i have over 9000 i want to make sure i have enough paper & ink to do it all :>)
Thanks,
Kaz.

with 9000 in your tree it would be a near impossible task, you would need hundreds of A4 size paper to cover that size of tree.

I have been given 100 packs of A4 size paper & a huge amount of ink with a printer,so i don't mind how much it takes.........Just want to make sure that it only prints the info & not all the fancy bits to save on ink & time, good thing is,i also got a spare laptop to run it from,so glad i got it too!

I have printed trees before (just small ones) and it prints in pink and blue (unless you choose not to use colour, of course) with the names and years only. I don't have any photos in my tree so don't know if they would print?

I remember printing a tree of about 200-300 people and I actually taped it together so that I could follow it. I hung it up to look at it and it covered a whole door.

I found that it was impossible to get all family members (parents and children) on the same page for all families - some members of a family end up on another page and even if you tick the box for page numbers it is difficult to follow. If you were to put it in a folder you would just end up with one or two people on the sides of some pages.

If you do go ahead with it let us know how you go - good luck!

I have yet to print anything that remotely resembles a tree from GR

printing is much better from Tribal pages free site.[ nicer font]

With a really big tree I would just print all the names and dates as labels and paste them onto a paper roll, Something like caterers tablecloth roll is 4 feet wide

If all else fails contact Rons printers

I found that printing from genes was a bit of a waste of time as it does not show all the info you have on any individual

So my hubby bought me a family tree programme and wala perfect it prints if known and put in

name
dob when where
bap when where
marrage when where
dod when where
occupation

all in the same rectangle

also has room to keep notes on an individual but that does not print out though

When you click on a name itso lets you know all that persons rellies

all for only about £20 best pressie I have ever had off him

Carol

ps most of them are very simlar good luck

I have a family tree programme too but I am yet to actually print anything.

Having said that, looking at the print previews I can see they are going to be great.

As Carol says I can see all the information and each family is on the same page!

Thanks to all for your answers, perhaps it will be a case of using my Tribal page to do it all from,i think i would only need the important members, but how do i chosse who is important & not? More questions than answers!

I have told quite a few people on genes about My Heritage. You can join for free and you can download Family Tree builder. This allows you to do more than one tree and you can print off beautiful trees with a variety of watermark backgrounds which makes putting together easy. You can also print just ancestors.descendants or close family. Everyone who tried it were impressed with results

Forget it. I have printed a tre which was considerably smaller than yours and it was a real nightmare. When laid out after joining all the pieces together (which is a mammoth task ) it wouldn't fit in the room.
