I am mortified

UzziAndHerDogs Report 30 Jun 2011 12:37

Today I received a letter from the rental agents of my parcela. Which said that another potential landlord had turned me down because of weeds on my pitch, dogs (note the plural) running on the back of furniture and smoking in the van.

Why am I mortified ? not the defamation of character I assure you but the violation of privacy. HOW I want to know does a person know where my furniture is from the roadway ...yes Mini sits on the windowsill but believe me not even she could walk on the back of the furniture! Yes I smoke I also have an e-ciggie , so how do they know which I am smoking by just walking past? Oh I also have nets up at the window and have looked to see what you can see from the calle (road) nothing.

Now for somebody to know I have dogS would also know that I have spent the last 3 months in a bl**dy splint and can't look after my OWN plants easily ...

They also said that my current landlady is due out etc etc good I have a few things to say also.

Now I have already secured a new home starting from the 1st Sept because this one isn't suitable and I hated the not knowing from the agents.

BUT I am horrified that somebody seems to have been in MY space, it seems quite creepy and yuck.
I'll be glad to move
I have asked the agents to tell me who it is as I may take it further "peeping Tom " stuff

we can only wait .

Horrible Uzzi, could it be the neighbours from the last place that you didn't particularly get on with? difficult because I suspect it is somebody who is Spanish so you will have a problem finding out why? Have you upset anyone?

Be a good job when you move then won't it?

I dont' know about Spanish law, except that its a LOT different from English law, but here there has to be at leat 24 hours notice for any landlord to visit a tenanted property, but sounds to me like there may have been a visitation at yours if it can't be seen from outside.

Ann it certainly wasn't from where I was previous, I was there nearly 6 years with no complaints and I got on with all my neighbours. Maybe somebody Spanish ..but the agents are english and most of their clients are, so maybe not.
I think I know who it could be, but on the other hand maybe not. Yes moving here I upset an independant letting agent, who want to corner the market and had hoped for this place. ..they were the ones who stopped me having the keys 2 days early so I could dog proof.

Yes It will be good when I move as I won't feel asthough I am being spied on.
It's a horrible feeling.
I'm glad that I had already decided to move and arranged elsewhere apart from it seems yummy (already been in and painted) it may give me a bit of peace of mind.

TW not sure of the law here, but if they had visited they would know a few things ..like I am never out apart from walking dogs, if I am out do not walk into my place if dogs are there, Actually they are cowards and will only bark, but 2 of them !! even if 1 is only 10.5 inch tall! (she is the one to beware of as she is the one who will bite )

Also they did get something wrong my mutts can't walk on the back of the furniture is too small and floppy (old) it's Mini who runs on the window ledge lol
the new place had the window blocked off so one of the things we asked for was the window back so Mini can sit on it and shout at the world.

Hi Suzi,sorry for your trouble.

Going off tack,I was watching my dogs happily playing in a filthy pond one day,and wondered why they don't mind that, but hate having a bath. Could it be the warm water that they hate?

Try bathing them in cold water, and if it works you could do them in the yard with a hosepipe and keep the bathroom clean. :-D :-D

Ooh Uzzi, I'd be soooo tempted to put my own venetian blinds up!!!
Council are due to paint flashings here (someday they'll tell me when - or receive a snotty letter ), so blinds are firmly shut when I'm at work.
My mess is my mess and no-one elses business!!
Finding cats staring at them from the 'window' side of the shut blinds may give them a wee shock.

Is it your own furniture? If so, why should they bother about where your dogs walk on it?

LOL Uzzi - I've just remembered when we (extended family - me, my sister, our children their partners and their children - 13 in total) were on holiday in Cornwall.
Landlady poked her head over the stable door, to inform us that a representative of some holiday business would visit us - and 'Didn't we have a lot of empty bottles?'
We dilligently took the bottles to the (full) bottle bank, representative came round - and my grandson and great niece (2 and 2 and a half at the time) chose the perfect moment to emerge from the small cupboard they had decided was the 'perfect place' - the woman shrieked - and possibly thought this was where we put them when they were an 'inconvenience' :-D

Truth was, we tried to discourage them - but they liked it in there, closed the door behind themselves - and were quiet ;-)

No to be fair it is not my furniture but the typical fixed furniture of a caravan ..and I have told them that not even a cat could balance on that let alone my little one,,,yes she sits on the windowsill and shouts ..Janey (the landlady knew this).
But I will leave this place better than I arrived .if for no other reason I dog proved it !

It will be just so much easier to move when I can do things I would like to make it my home :-)
