I have just been posted to go to Sweden for a week... business, and I thought urghhhhh. But I just looked it up and it looks like it could be a very interesting trip. Any body been there and have some places to recommend to stay and visit?

How lucky are you? being sent to somewhere interesting in Summer rather than Winter so easy to get out and see places, and getting paid for it as well! Have a great time. I am sure whereever you are in Sweden there will be somewhere of interest to visit in your spare time, altho a week will fly by anyway.

Enjoy,

Lizx

I went to Sweden some years ago to recruit registered nurses into the UK. I found that the people were friendly, very hospitable, and it was simply a fascinating place.
IBelieve that we should take any offer of expanding our knowledge, I kept in contact with the people who invited me for several years.
I would say " go and experience it, learn a little more about our planet, different foods etc etc."
Enjoy the visit !

I once went Sweden for 30minutes.

It was supposed to be a mini cruise but a ship was on fire in the North sea and our ship was on standby. We disembarked eventually in Sweden, waited 30 minutes and then got straight back onto the ship. ...Hope you manage a bit longer and have a good trip-jl

It's a lovely country - scenery beautiful and everywhere clean.
People are really friendly and most speak English very well - but they are very impressed if you bother to learn a few words of Swedish. (If you know some German it's quite easy to pick up)

I'm not going till later in the year, but I am busy checking out places to visit - I never knew Stockholm was made up of 14 islands, its sounds quite charming. Also two of the islands have houses still lived in and the houses were built 500 years ago - the zoo looks like its worth a visit. BUT if all the food takes like it was made by Ikea I might loose a lot of weight
