I need to be specific naming the programs. If it irks anyone please say so and I will remove the thread. No malice intended toward any product, just a major hassle and I was wondering if anyone had solved the problem

I have a friend who has a newish HP computer. It runs with a 64 bit OS (operating system), and Win 7. Friend decided to use the fh program Legacy and downloaded it.

After a week of troubles and tribulations the end result is that neither manufacturer can tell her why Legacy will not run in that setup. HP are now saying the program is incompatable with their computer. Legacy are saying its program will run with Win 7 and 64 bit.

She has read all the FAQ about problems which do exist, tried every option, googled the problems with no result. The errors generated by loading the program are not cosmetic. They cause a major shut down of the system.

Current state of affairs is that she is removing Win 7 and replacing it with Win XP.

Has anyone else had similar problems. I can not believe that in this technological age a well produced program can not be loaded onto a new computer.

Sorry can't help. I have a year old HP PC with Win7 but have family tree maker which doesn't appear to cause problems.

I suspect it is the Windows 7 which causes the problem rather than the pc. does it say what Legacy will run on. Usually if a programme will run on Vista it will run on windows 7.

Yes we downloaded all the Legacy info on the subject. It is very specific that the program will run with Win 7. However there are installation tips, specific to Win 7 which have been followed, to no avail.
