Anything is possible Chris I'll get OH to have a look next time he is up there. Thing is I don't actually need it to use it but am just curious as to where it has gone.

Have you put it in the loft as you did not use it often?

Not been taken to anyone's house, we don't do that.
It is not glass it is brown 'china' type.
It would certainly not fit in my freezer, it is very large
Which is why I can't overlook it.
It would not fit in any of my drawers or cupboards which is why it lived on the top of the kitchen cupboard.
It is not in either garage or shed.
I doubt it has got broken as to fall from where it was would be practically impossible, and if it fell on anybody I would have known about it.
Shall have to ask daughter if she can remember me saying anything.
And not given to charity.

Ann
Like others have said I would ask family, friends and neighbours.
My neighbour arrived one day with a large blue dish and said " Is this yours. It's been in my cupboard for ages?"
It was mine. I had totally forgotten about it and neither of us could remember the occasion on which I took it to her house.
Good luck with the search.
Take care
Von

First suspect. Does he have a shed. Has it been used for draining the oil from the sump.

2nd suspect. Is in the garden shed full of those bulbs from last year. Don't worry you will find it at planting time.

3rd suspect. I like DETs idea. In the freezer full of those leftovers. If you look now you won't have to cook tea tonight.

4th suspect. Does it contain water and is it placed outside the back door for dog, cat, rabbit, budgie or chicken to drink from or swim in.

5th suspect. Did you have to take a "plate" somewhere. A function, gathering, school event.

6th suspect. Is it in your top drawer, any top drawer, or any drawer full of all those little things that can never find their own drawer.

7th suspect. Have you noticed any tell tale signs of broken glass around the kitchen lately. Or any newspaper wrapped parcels which rattled when you emptied the bin.

Try the airing cupboard ;-) Stranger things have happened!

Actually - were there some left overs you've either frozen or sent home with family?

A large (about 10 inch diameter) casserole dish and lid?

I used to use it when the family came and it always sat right on top of my kitchen cupboards. I haven't used it in ages because it is/was too large for two of us. At the weekend I became aware that I had not seen it in ages. I have looked everywhere it could be and it is nowhere to be seen. And I am sure I would not have given it away. What a mystery!!!!
