Can anyone please tell me if they have used the UK records archive to find out about divorces before i pay please?

Is this a recent one or historical?

Before you pay ANYBODY, have a look at this link to the National Archive. You may be able to cut out the middle man.

Hi thanks for replying, my grandad married in 1909, but he and my grand mother had my dad in 1933, trying to find out if he divorced the lady he wed in 1909. :-S

If he divorced, then the records have probably been destroyed. Best read the info on the above link.

Divorce was rather uncommon for the ordinary man or woman in the street, although not unknown. More than likely they lived as man and wife without the legalities of a bit of paper.

edit - download form D440, complete the details and send off to the address given on the form. The charge given on the form is £40 for each 10 year search!

I certainly wouldn't bother paying a 3rd party.
