Prince William and his wife, looking so relaxed and happy on their Canadian tour. :-D :-D

I don't care that the Monarchy might be an outdated institution, that they might lead pampered 'unreal' lives in many ways... seeing two young people who are obviously in love and happy warms the cockles of my old heart, and I think that is a good thing in an unhappy world! So there !! :-P

I realise that the monarchy as such may seem outdated - but I think we must see our royals as the country's public relations department. They may seem expensive and sometimes eccentric! but they do a super job involved with so many charities and good causes, and also dealing with visiting celebrities and VIPs. I ldon't think our politicians of any party would like to have these responsibilities to add to their chores! (Somebody's got to do it!)

And I do think that Prince William and his wife seem to have just the right touch - not least because they did have a life as students with the public which means they know more about average homes and lives.

They seem to have struck the right chord with most of the Canadian people and also seem to have the knack of behaving naturally with them. I think Catherine (Kate) looks lovely in the clothes she wears and no way could she look as good in some of the stuff I have seen recently on Pri***k. But she doesn't always wear clothes that are out of reach of 'normal' girls her age which is good. She is very slim but still has a nice figure so the clothes hang nicely on her. I think she was beginning to look a little tired so it was good that they could have a short time to themselves on their canoe trip.

They're on tour??? :-S

Shows how much notice I take of the royal family :-D

I did hear on 'This Morning' last week that a dress Kate wore, that was sold online, sold out within five minutes.

I watched the programme last evening after recording it, and I really think their love shines out. They are like a fun loving young couple who have a certain 'job' to do and they do it well. Kate looks genuinely happy and you can see how happy William is, the way he hugged her after their boat race and the way he constantly touches her back as if to reassure her or say I am here. She almost always looks lovely in whatever she wears and looks so interested in all that is going on around her.
I thought she looked especially beautiful in the purple dress with her hair up, so elegant a look.
I just hope they are always as happy as they seem to be now, I am sure being students and William especially living an ordinary kind of life, has helped him enormously and he will always understand the problems of the average person in the UK not just the posh or wealthy folk. I think the pair of them are great for our country and the Queen and Prince P. must be so proud of them both.
As for Diana, she would be the proudest Mum going if she was alive to see the way William is conducting his life and I bet she would adore Kate. Imagine them giggling together over something - hope whereever she is she can see them and enjoy their happiness and also watch over them, and Harry too as he makes his way in the world.

All power to them

i do feel sorry for her, every news item or article likens her or mentions diana, i wish they would just let her me herself, must be awful for the boys to have there mum mentioned all the time,

Having seen both, I thought their wedding was much more like a wedding and less of a state occasion than that of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Catherine has come into this marriage from a much stronger position than her mother-in-law did. They function much more as a couple.

They certainlyhave had a very warm welcome here in Canada. Seeing Kate participating in a Dragon boat race with enthusiasm, William navigating a rescue helicopter, was so encouraging seeing their comfort while interacting with the general public. I was surprised but pleased that they took a side trip to Great Slave lake which has been devastated recently, the folks in that wee place really appreciated the fact that their trauma had been noticed and shared. They have already seen parts of Canada (far north) that tourists rarely see, and most Canadians haven't visited. Quite an initiation.
My SIL's daughter is being married in September in BC, Another Kate and Will . . .
