I'd like to know this too. Some extremely distant relative keeps adding stuff and I really don't want it!!!

I also would like to delete some part of my ancestry tree, I have a lot of false info on there from people who contacted me claiming to be related when they are not any where near to being related.

SpanishEyes, I have the same problem. Also I haven't updated it for so long it would just be easier to start from scratch than have to delete so much.

Do you mean delete all of your own tree? As far as iknow you cannot delete part of your tree other than by editing each individual

Helen if others are adding to your tree you must have given them permission, you can alter permissions here also

If so

Go to the "family tree" tab, click on the tab, ignore the drop down menu that appears.

another drop down menu appears which shows your tree name , with an instruction to view tree or manage tree.click on manage tree which opens another window, down on the right hand side you should see in red delete your tree.

Note this is not reversible

Thank you George. :-D

I'm currently researching an ancestor from Westbury. William Albert Pike who died on HMS Hood.

in stead of deleting your tree why not just set it to privet setting
that was no one can see your tree or add to it

People cannot add to your own tree on Ancestry unless you given them permission, either public or private

I would caution against deleting your tree. If you feel y ou must remove it entirely from Ancestry why not first Gedcom it from Ancestry to family history program which sits on your desktop. There are free versions available. With it saved to your computer and not on line no one will be able to have access to it. If in the future you wish to restore it to Ancestry you will only need to Gedcom it back again.

Make your tree private. The only way people can view or use information is if you give them permission.

Also don't be fooled by the member connect information shown on Ancestry. It puzzled me for a while until I worked out that each time a person researched, found or loaded information into their tree Ancestry told me this had happened.

It was not that they had been to my tree only that they had found the same information I had found. Sometimes it is good to know so you are able to contact them and discuss the info.
