Yesterday whilst in Liverpool went for one thing and one thing only - came back home with a Kindle (As well) . Has you got one......

Nope sorry Mark im hoping they flop i love books not keen on the idea of Kindle but i see more and more people on the bus with them.

I went to town yesterday as well and bought a book £1.99 :-D

But as i always say its each to their own i hope you enjoy your Kindle i think they will be great for storage as the only down side to a book is if your like me i dont throw them away and they pile up :-(

I don't have one myself but I bought my son and daughter-in-law one each for Christmas. They love books but as Rob says storage is always a problem. They also read most when they are on holiday and usually take about 10 books between them (which is a bit of a problem when packing). The Kindle means they can have as many books with them as they wish.

They also like the fact that you can usually download the first couple of pages of a book without buying it - just to see if they think it is their cup of tea.

I have one and also love books. I use both, mostly books when at home but the Kindle when away/travelling. It is great. I also like the way it is instant. If I want a book and it is available on Kindle, within a couple of minutes it has downloaded.

Yes I have the Kindle 3G I bought it from Amazon and I love it, love it, love it. For me it is a god send as I live abroad and have to rely on presents, swaps and the few second hand book stalls we have here. This means that I can't very often read a book that I would go and buy as it just isn't available.

I have bought several electronic books now and downloaded some that were free first time authors. A couple of these were quite good and others I just deleted after the first few pages.

I do still read 'real' books, I am reading one now, but I also have the ability to read any book that I particularly want to read instead of reading the best of what is available.

The Kindle is also great for travelling

Never even seen one, but I have read about them. Not for me though, I like to go to the charity shop at the weekend when I go to the market, I take in what I bought last week and pick up a "new" second hand book at the same time. But they sound like a good idea for holidays. Do they reference books on line as she will be going on holiday soon and she could then down load all of her study work

There is one thing i have wondered about the kindle can you see pictures i read alot of JFK books and a lot of Authors ask you to see page whatever to look at a photo or diagram.

I imagine they could Robin just like a pc but I have not had any books with pictures in.

My problem is that I do most of my reading when on holiday by the pool. Books often get very soggy and wet and I doubt a Kindle would stand up to that.

Sorry, just to clarify as I bet you are all wondering how the book gets so wet - I get in the pool, get out, read book (lying on lounger with book resting on wet swimsuit, book gets wet, paper/pages swell, book is twice as big at the bottom of the page as it is at the top and therefore not fit to pass on to anyone else to read. Don't think a Kindle would put up with that amount of water. Otherwise I think they are a great idea and would love one.

I have an iPad and I can download booked very easily, some are free and others are a very small price. If I have really enjoyed the books I sometimes buy it and give hints to my six children and two eldest grandchildren.

However all the books I really treasure are first additions and they are kept very safely. When in the UK I go to as many second hand book shops as I can searching for first editions....feeling home sick at the thought of it.

I hope that you learn to love your Kindle.
