I've just looked at my prized souvenir edition and I would have said a v neckline but having put the magnifyer on I can see a slight curve after the straight v but not a sweetheart neckline of my era which would have a wider curve. Oh she did look lovely. |

No worry pet you are evidently much too young to remember sweetheart necklines not like some of the more mature ladies here!!!! |

Stray - it is a strapless corset bodice with the lace bodice over it but will admit at a quick glance looks like sweetheart but not. |

i think if you look at the dress, it has a sweetheart neckline, but the v neck is from the lace, that carrrys on over her arms n shoulders |

I think you are right - a v neck is a V. And a sweetheart neck had a curved bit as you say. But these so called fashion experts are too young to know and too stupid to check. |

Chris, you are right. I found myself looking closely at The Duchess of Cambridge's neckline and thinking 'that is a V neck'. |

Ever since the day Prince William's bride stepped onto the red carpet outside Westminster Abbey her 'vee' neckline was described as a 'sweetheart' neckline. On tv sinceand in papers, so-called fashion experts have been describing 'vee' necklines as 'sweetheart'. |
