Trust you are all enjoying life where ever you are. I have just found the boards - so am saying Hi from New Zealand.
I am an amature researcher following the surnames of Bootten (Booten) Preece, Mason, Schultz.
My James Bootten ancestor was born in Rochford 1827. On leaving England the Booten name became Bootten.
James BOOTTEN Married Sarah PREECE, left England on board the Aux.Steamer "Lord Worsley" 2/06/1858, arriving New Zealand 9/10/1858. Their 3 eldest children:Hannah Bne 20/09/1852 Worchestershire, James Bne31/12/1854 Coombes, William Bne 31/07/1857 England-Came with them. 5 children bne in NZ were Thomas, Joseph, Mary, Sarah Susan, John. James death cert,16 Nov 1909, showed he died at Sawyers Bay,NZ aged 82, was a farmer, his father was James Bootten and his mother was a Turford, he was born in Tenbury and had been 51 years in NZ. James is buried at Port Chalmers New Cemetery,Dunedin.NZ
We have found it difficuild to track James parents, and ancestors.
Look forward to chatting.

Morning (or Evening ) Lynette. Welcome to the boards - its great that you have decided to take the plunge and join the GR community.

Over all, we are a friendly bunch, so feel free to join any thread that takes your interest, or start your own.

If you ever feel you want help with your research, start a thread on 'Find Ancestors'. The members who help are fantastic, not only with their knowledge of the UK records, but with some of the NZ and other overseas ones as well. It sometimes helps for fresh eyes to look at your 'Brickwall'.

:-)

I found fantastic help with my tree, taking me back to 1550 on my mothers side. Do try here as suggested.
Welcome to GR. We have another member, Susan, NZ, who has become a great penfriend. I know she is on the Auntie Motie thread. Never be afriad to post something. On rare occasions yo may get no answer, but mostly people will join in and you learn a great deal <3

Oooh, Liz, you only know me from the boards and emails. How can you really know if I am lovely? I can put on a good act if I want!

Hi there Lynette, welcome to the group of Kiwis on here. Persephone is another Kiwi. We are on the For Aussies and Friends thread each day. Are you from the North or South Island? Persie and I are in the Auckland area.

Huia.

Wow - thanks for all the posts of welcome. Look forward to chatting with you all. I am an older Mum with two children of 9 and 6, so am busy with children - school etc. I love it, and enjoy my new family. My spare time is little, but enjoy chasing my family tree. Just had a family reunion last February in Cambridge, bringing branches of our family together from all over NZ.
I am from Hamilton, mid North Island. Getting terrible weather here lately. Hail, Thunder, lightning, downpours. Not the usual for Hamilton.

Hi Lynette,

I am not too far down the road from you. :-) I live in the South Waikato.

I am researching UK family and am beginning to wonder where the heck they went......... Both my parents have little knowledge of their family histories, not much help to me at all. Oh well,

Regards,

Susan

Huia, don't be daft, I think I have known you long enough now to know you have a lovely nature, even if you might try and hide it sometimes lol (only kidding!)

Persie and others, sorry didn't mean to forget you but only had a limited amount of time to reply before, o.h. was getting up and that's when I get out of the way and go to bed lol

Lynette and Susan, I was down your way last Saturday. I was going to a meeting in Cambridge and stopped off in Hamilton to look at the museum since I had heaps of time to spare. It took me 2 hours to drive back from the meeting in Cambridge afterwards.

I am 75 yrs young (sometimes) and my husband is in care with alzheimers. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren and am likely to have a gt grandchild in January.

I have done a lot of research on my ancestors in England. All 4 sets of gt grandparents came from different parts of England.

Huia.

Hi Lynette, I have sent you two PMs. You might still have a little white envelope appearing on your mesage box. Click on it and read the second message.

You may have already done what I suggested but just in case.
