I did not have to sign in to access GR.
I can surf around the boards and read what I like.
However,
in order to access My Threads or to add a reply I had to sign on.

The Add Topic button actually says, "Sign on to Add Topic".

First time ever. I am now signed on and can access My Threads and add a reply.

And I didn't know where to post. It is a very different bug. Have never had it happen before.

After it occurred I had a recurring error message about IE wanting to load a .dll file. I kept telling it no, it kept persisting. I shut down the machine, restarted and accessed GR with no problems. The error message appears to have gone.

I really think my IE might have had a hot flush or two.

Looks to me like GR might have automatically logged you out during an issue, it does it to me now and then, as does facebook and a few other sites. I also sometimes unintentionally log myself out of all sites that 'remember me' when I clear my cookies, very annoying! :-(

It's quite easy to then go into GR and not notice you're not actually logged in until you go to add to a thread or do something that a member would do on the site.

GR is viewable by non-members, free or otherwise, so being logged out will not stop you being able to view threads.

You have a valid point there because quite truthfully I did not think to look to see if my name was at the top of the screen.

Grrrrrrrr!!! I'll look next time something like this happens. And now I want it to it probably never will. Oh well, never satisfied.

I don't know what's wrong with this site, for a few weeks now I have had a red banner the full length of screen saying "ERROR this thread does not exist". Obviously all the threads exist, GR wants to get the site sorted out.
