i am trying to find the whereabouts of a baby called barbara johnson born to george johnson and catherine maud johnson (formally nott) the baby was the 5th child and the mother died shortly afterwards. they lived in alpha place and moved on to richmond grove surbiton. the father could not look after the children they were bought up by grandmother nott. The baby was taken away and to this day nobody knows who took her or where she went. her sister my mother would so love to find out anything about what happened to barbara before she dies so if anyone knows any information we would be so very grateful
(one of the cencus does have a thorlby-coy from worksop but we understand that is a fairly new name) and have not had any success with that. hopefully someone may know something??

1927 was when official adoption started so she may have been adopted. Unless you can find her new name then there's not much chance of tracing her through the records

Do you have her exact birth date ?
