sorry to upset you,i dont really know alot about caravans but wouldnt your caravan have a guarantee?or dont you get one when you buy private?my brother paid 22thou for his caravan 2yrsago,,he came up up to visit uslast year and van was huge and really nice..but he found a fault in the toilet ,so he sent it back to the company for a full refund plus costs(he finds fault in everything he buys, but he does pay a lot of money for the best so expects the best.and itsnot always the case).xx :-D :-D

Suzane a 9 yr old caravan is like new, its not mildew is tiny hard bits that have penetrated the wall like the small damp patch has, ive had vans for the last 20yrs , if you look after a carac=van it will last you years, its finding the write ones, its such a shame as everything is like new in the van, probably only used 9 times as in once a year.
i see vans from the 60s still useable, my question was about knowing my rights, i wouldnt be bothered about a bit of mildew tbf, but once a leak in the pannels have occured there very expensive to fix and no one wants them. :-D

a bit of mould isnt a problem, get a toothbrush andsome bleach ,rub for 5mins and your problem will be gone.a bit of mould is the least of your problems in a 9yr old van.x

Dizzi no havent used shower only had van a week, its hard to see unless your very close up so much so i would believe they have missed it themselves, its only 9 yrs old, weve had vans much older withouth any problems like that, its a lovely van and i hope its superficial and its repaired but if its damp i dont want it, i could never sell it looking the way it does, its in a weierd place lol, couldn be straight forward with me x :-S

DIZZI Report 19 Jul 2011 21:58

DONT THINK THEY WOULD REFUND
HOW OLD IS THE CARAVAN,AND IS THE SHOWER
PROPERLY VENTALATED WHEN SHOWER BEING
USED THAT WOULD CAUSE MILDEW

Hi thanks all, i bought it from a company selling new and used vans, we have only ever bought private, so this time we thought pay a bit extra and be safe, we traded ours in for 1000 then paid cash and debit card for the other 4000, ive a reciept , it dosnt mention any checks or thanfully say sold as seen, we r taking it tomorrow so hopefull we can swap at least, thanks again xxxx :-D

If you bought it from a company you would have received a check list of all the areas usually covered by a guarantee, although it may only cover mechanics. If the fabric of the van is covered they will offer a repair. I'd faint if they offered a refund!

If bought privately any guarantee is only as good as the vendor's promise.

Good luck

Puss you are so unlucky with vans

But yes if it's under warranty and there is a fault in the bathroom is not what a van should be and bulging mould spots isn't as it says there is a leak on either a pipe or the roof (depending where the problem is)

Take it back to the seller and ask for it put right , not sure if you could ask for money back mind

ladylol Report 19 Jul 2011 20:22

please, i bought a used caravan for 5000 it looked fine and we did normal checks, all seemed fine.
whilst camping i put one of the spot lights on in the shower room and it showed some buldging and and what looked like tiny mould spots, so the van is under 3 months warrent do you know if i can have my money back as its classed as a fault, thanks puss xx
