Had a phone call to-day from my cousin Susan, to let me know that her 'little' brother died in the USA last Tuesday, He had been very ill for about a year and was only 55.

The whole family emigrated to South Africa in the early 1970''s so hadn't seen him since the late 60's.

Found his obituary on line.... only to discover that he accomplished his dream, playing professional soccer whilst in SA and helped establish the first racially mixed soccer league there in the 1970's!

He then emigrated to the USA and worked for the United States Soccer Academy and took 180 young soccer players to Europe on tours to compete in Junior Word You Cups.

His Mum and mine were sisters..who always kept in touch and visited each other even whilst in SA........ yet none of the info filterd down to me. Can only assume our Mum's just never talked about soccer.

RIP Douglas....

so sorry to hear your news , it sounds as if he had a short life but a good one ...i've lost 3 cousens and a brother in law from cancer in the last 6 years , so know how you feel .
