I loved this latest one, the people really got to know the family they stayed with and seemed to infer that they would return and stay with them again.

It's sad that the Maldives may not be there in 50 yrs time, and the families will have to be relocated to different places. How awful was all that rubbish, we just don't think do we that all our conveniently packaged stuff can cause such trouble.

And what about the cost of those holidays? Nice for those who can afford it maybe but obscene amounts of money and it doesn't filter down to the hard working people who need it, as always the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I thought it was one of the best programmes that has been on for quite a while. Will tape tonights. I do love the sort of trips that take you out to see a little of the life behind all the hotels.

They certainly had a shock, thought they were in for a real treat all week lol.

There's another one tonight.

I missed part of last week's but will record this one. I wouldn't want to holiday somewhere and not see the area - seems pointless to me to travel so far and spend so much and have no idea of the real country.


I have seen a similar programme where a young woman goes on holiday to similar set ups and goes out to meet the real people thru the staff at the holiday hotel. She really digs deep to find out how the locals benefit from the holiday makers, often they are exploited and only earn peanuts.

Watched the second half of it - have visited Gambia many years ago.

I have met many people like those and of all ages who never set foot outside of a hotel but say yes I have visited everywhere including Timbuctoo!

Did anyone watch this programme tonight on Channel 4 ?

Was hoping they would say what the 4 people did for a living to be able to stay in 5 star hotels for their holidays twice a year.

Why go to another country and just stay in a hotel and not venture out to seen the scenery etc.
