No idea how many days off they have but sure I have a few more lines and grey hairs from watching littleun on the waltzer at fair not to mention the getting up and down everytime they ring the door bell wanting something.

Sympathise with the doorbell situation...with ours we got a spare key cut and left it in the front door when they were playing outside.... means they could come and go as they pleased without one of us having to jump up and down every 5 minutes.......

I don`t know how old they are, but presume if their tall enough to reach the bell they could probably reach the lock as well??

Nicky, i would not advise leaving your key in your door, not a very security contious approach really, can these children not just use the back door? or maybe consider leaving the door on the latch, at least all and sundry cannot see your door is insecure then .

I just left the back door (strangely at the side of the house) unlocked!
Also made sure they played at other peoples houses :-D

Izzy thank you for your concern......this was years ago...youngest is 17 now, we lived in a cul de sac {actually as we do now}, with a large expanse of grass in front of the row of houses, so there were no strangers passing by, and would only do it when we were in the front room so could see who was coming through the front door.......
