We went to the Isle of Wight yesterday specifically to go to the garlic farm. There was an offer on preserved garlic in oil, three tubs for a fiver, so I went for it.

Last night I ate a tub of preserved garlic.

I had absolutely no trouble with vampires last night but, truly, you had better stay over there!

I bet you won't have any trouble getting to the front of the queue at Aldi today!!!! :-D :-D

We're off to the IOW next month, where's the garlic farm? Must pay a visit.

We have been there several times and each time we have become lost from a different direction.

Yesterday we used the map in the magazine you pick up on the ferry. Are you a very experienced map reader? If so you can do it.

Just remember the bit where the road does a sort of divide is a tiny road going steeply down a hill.

There is a picture window in the tea room with a rope outside leading down a slope from the trees to a box containing hazel nuts. Red squirrels come down the rope for some nuts.

I'm a brilliant map reader - as long as the map isn't wrong :-( :-D

I've had a look at their website, it looks well worth a visit.

If you are staying over there, maybe we could meet for a cup of tea one day while the ferry offer is on.

If you want a good cheap meal, basic but good, go to Long Johns at the bottom of Union Street, Ryde.

another good place to eat is The Folly at Whippingham. It is on Cowes Creek so don't attempt to go in there on a Saturday night as it is very, very full of yachties. Weekday lunchtimes are the preserve of the elderly and they sure do know where to go for a decent meal.

For that one you need to go from Fishbourne towards West Cowes and there is a little sign by Whippingham church. It is down a long lane through a caravan site but well worth the journey.

We had a GR meet many years ago at The Folly.... several people travelled from the mainland to meet up with 'natives' and others there on holiday.

I've not been to the garlic farm, but it sounds as if it would be an interesting place to visit.

I won't suggest you visit mother dear whilst you are there :-D but do all enjoy the island it is an amazing place.
I've never done the garlic farm, I can't stand the smell of it and am allergic to the taste of it, but it does sound great.
There is so much to see there mind, I couldn't even begin to suggest places

I have been to the lavender farm there,and the one on Jersey where the woman in the shop would not sell us anything because she was counting her money! Glad she didn't need ours!

There are several lavender farms not very far from here.There is one at Lordington and one near Selborne.I can find those.
