Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the 'Trying to Find' tool has disappeared! I have been told that it is incorporated into the 'finding Ancestors' on the Community Link, but it simply doesn't work anymore! Come on you lot on the G.R. site please try and sort this I have been asking for weeks now. It was a really helpful tool.

Cheers :-(

Hi Wendy.........the "Trying to Find" board is now called the "Find Ancestors" board.

It works in exactly the same way. PH.

Hi Wendy,

Yes, that facility went with the new changes.

If you are looking for possible connections on this site, just put the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above and this will tell you if anyone else on this site is researching the same family. You can contact the tree owners.

The problem with the old filter box system was that so many new members were putting surnames in and replying to messages which were years old and obsolete. I, for one, am pleased it has gone because some of us who help on the site were forever having to send messages to new members to give them advice about posting on old threads. :-D

Hi, Thanks for that. I guess it's just a case of personal preference. I was able to find out alot from the 'Trying to Find' system. Searching the trees has always been there, but not everyone who has a tree posted on the Trying to Find and not everyone on the Trying to Find necessarily had a tree (hope you're still with me !) When I pointed it out to the team on the G.R. site a few weeks ago they weren't even aware of it but said they would get their I.T. team to have a look at it!! I'm still waiting.

Anyway thanks again your reply made more sense than all the verbal nonsense I've heard from the G.R. team. It's realy put me off renewing membership!

Thanks again,

Wendy

Find Ancestors still brings all threads from 2002 to present up with name search.......
