Surely its all relative?
I mean assuming someone was paid A Pound for a years work? now a housemaid would be paid less than say a carpenter?

a years wages now adays would be in the thousands......

on telly a couple of days a go a man's ancestor was given a plate, in lieu of money........Todays valuation was around £25,000
and more recently, in the mid 80's a gallon of petrol was around 80p for me,about 2/3 of an hours wages.......today its around £5 a gallon? minimum wage area I think.......

Probably as long as you are consistent, it doesn't matter too much what site you use

This one is good, as it will also tell you how much a tradesman would earn, or how many sheep you could have bought!

Inflation and demand does have a lot to do with 'values'. Just by considering our home, it has increased in value 7 fold in 30 odd years - but we would still have to pay the same amount at today's sale prices to purchase something similar.
