I watched and enjoyed it.
Actually managed to remember it this week, so saw it from the start.

I watched it and was really touched by the plight of June's family over the centuries.

June Brown made a point " I don't understand religious wars" and neither do I.

I said to my husband " why have the Jews been so hated over the centuries?" I really don't get it, I was christened Anglican and have many Jewish friends.

I was a history student and I never understood this, any more than I understand hostility towards immigrants, when 80% of the Uk are from immigrant stock.

Helen, my o.h. actually asked the same question, why were Jews always reviled and pushed on to other countries? I don't really know the answer to that either. I can't stand the attitude of people who are hostile to immigrants when most of us are not truely British and probably have some different blood somewhere down the line but sadly my o.h. is very anti immigrants of any nationality even tho I keep telling him he probably has mixed blood himself. His own great grandfather was adopted altho it wasn't generally known in the family until a great aunt made mention of it but it was never followed up - with a name like Smith and few details to go on it's been really hard to do any of his tree.

June certainly travelled some miles to find out more about her family but they had travelled even further so it made for interesting viewing.

I was surprised to see how much she smokes, the camera kept going to her ciggie as if to accentuate it, mind you it's not causing her a premature death, that's for sure. Sad to see her smoking next to her daughters and family tho, altho I suppose they are used to it, it isn't very sensible.

Looking forward to seeing the others in this series, J.K. Rowling is next I think.
