Eldest has just been given her mobile phone early for her 11th birthday at the end of this month (high school this year so necessary evil)..she asked me *what did you get for your 11th birthday present?*

I said maybe something like a calculator which in those days was dead expensive.....no computers then, no DVDS...videos cost a bomb..3 channels on the TV.

She laughed and said.............so what did you DO in those days......

Erm....climbed trees ..hung out with my friends and watched 2 hrs of kids tv during the school hols because that's all there was !

She patted me on the shoulder and said *poor you*

Hell do I feel old :-S

Gawd I can't remember what I got for my 11th b'day, though I think I might have got a set of felt tips and a geometry set for the start of the new school year.

I do remember having my first confirmation class on my 11th birthday though, so I'm thinking my New English Bible might have been a birthday present, which I still have, as I remember taking it along to confirmation classes.

LOLOL know exactly how you feel on that one Hayley.

Where i live we have a fantastic row of buildings called *The Brink*...beautiful and Georgian..used in loads of costume dramas for filming.

I walk along with my friend saying.ooooooo look at how many of those windows have been blocked in to avoid paying the window tax..and ooooooo I never noticed that stable block at the back..I wonder if it's used for keeping dogs in or something now........

She just glares at me and suggests i examine the architecture of the local pub..which invariably I generally end up doing....just for a quiet life you understand :-D

I love wondering around the older streets of Norwich, we have Elm Hill and Colegate. Elm Hill is a medeival street which has barely changed since it was rebuilt in the 1600s after a fire, and Colegate is also full of ancient houses but is part of the Viking area of Norwich, so steeped in history.
