Ok, so far, it's the police's fault, lets blame them, (for the RR-er, thats tongue in cheek, not my opinion) That'll help the police won't it....NOT! :-S

It became clear very quickly both on Saturday and Sunday night that the police couldn't cope. Yes things went wrong on Saturday and by their own admission, the Police could had should have done better, but Sunday's events were so huge, and so widespread, there just were not the resources to cope with it all.

As for the woman saying there were four policemen just standing around watching while shops got looted and buildings burned...there were FOUR of them, andshe wanted them to tackle 100+ looters? Get real lady.

It was a new type of riot...small pockets of trouble makers being incredibly mobile..took them a while to figure it out..but they have now.

These policemen are family men.....i for one wouldn't want any one of them putting themselves at risk when they're only following orders x

I think those on the front line shoudl all receive commendations for what they did over the three nights, all of them. People think that because they are police they have no emotion it seems. These are human beings faced with petrol bombs, bricks and other missiles, fires, looting, and thugs by the 100s. Doesn't anyone think that they would be absolutely scared faced with that?

Next topic about removing from social housing. What will that achieve? First, they rarely if ever live on their own, are we supposed to evict their families too? What about innocent children who live with them, are they to be made homeless? Where do they go, what do we then do about the spike in homelessness? I don't believe that will achieve anything.

Why wasn't this dealt with in the boom years.

I've been asking that for bleeding ages.

Hmm jsut seen a good point on twitter. These riots were supposed to be about disaffected youths who have no voice and who are not being heard.

RE youths in the audience. If the want to be heard they should use channels like this to BE heard. People would listen more if they used their voices, elected a representative to speak FOR them if they can't do it themselve, but FGS stop complaining you aren't heard when you don't use the megaphones available to all of us.
