Hi Allan,

Thank you. My exasperation level has just dropped to a manageable reading.

I only get annoyed - slightly - when I've found a fair bit of info for someone and they then pick out just one posting from a person who only gave one piece of info and thank them profusely - I must admit that when that happens I promptly delete everything I posted - childish I know but that's me!! :-D

you either say "thanks to all" or not at all - don't just select one person out of many

You are quite correct in saying that Ann, and I believe that search results which are a joint effort should be appreciated jointly.

However, I think the "being ignored" relates more to the Chat boards. It is particularly noticeable when a group of friends are practising what Australians know as "gentle chiacking".

If someone from outside that "clique" is brave enough to offer a comment on the topic, there is a distinct possibility they will be ignored and the conversation will continue as though they had never posted.

You might be interested to know that I done exactly that. Put a comment on certain threads and sat back and watched the conversation flow straight over my post. I have also seen the same thing happen to others on the boards and have commented on it.

Don't think I expect everyone to hang onto every word I say. Hmm and if you aren't why not?? Although it would be nice if someone on the thread would at least say, "Push off, Aunty, this is a private conversation!" At least I would then know where I stood in the pecking order of things.

I could add one more though and identify those who are most likely to be ignored. The statistic is unable to be substantiated, and there are exceptions, but most of us know who we are.

Ann, you have a good point there, but I think AS is right

I too believe that Barbra was referring to Chat theads, not look up / help threads.

and Chat threads is where I seem to become invisible.

Gee ................... I wish I could be invisible at other times.

Imagine being able to go out in your jammies 'cos no-one can see you :-D

Hi Allan.

How are things with you?

Hello

To those who do not know me, I am the wonderful Persie who has read this thread right through.

Hello Barbra, I think I have talked to you Wend, know I have spoken to Prickly Holly, yes to my dear friend Suemaid, Hayley maybe not sure could have spoken with her, Jude yes on a few occasions, Glossie Ann a regular correspondent with me, our Gwen, yes on here and on GR Facebook, I always hear her, Shirley who has been getting the hang of it .. I think commented on a thread of mine so yes we have crossed paths amiably, Carol with numbers, I am fairly certain I have spoken to, Susan-NZ yes and she comes from such a lovely country as well, Buttercupfields yes we even discussed Italy, Straykitten .. I am not sure about, but I liked your comments on here, Rita, oh dear I think so but if not hello, Island yes we have talked and on one occasion she ignored me .. oh drat ... does it really matter.. no!!!. IGP .. but of course, the green ink is still on my PC, Emma (GoldenGirl) .. well of course I have, Motowngal yes but only a couple of times, Pigletspal ... yes and Lagooner if I remember rightly supports Arsenal,, Geez hope I got that right, Merlin yes on a few threads, Sharron who is not always a thread finisher, I have been known to be last on more than one occasion and yes I have spoken to her, Kemp in her hot hat... yes we have had a chat, Suzanne ... now here is one I am not sure of because I have not taken note of which one you are... so hi to you.. you thought you were ignored on here but it is because of the rapid fire of short answers that sometimes one gets missed another time is if you are at the bottom of the page and post at or about the same time as the first person on the next page and everyone follows that person.. it is not intentional... just come back with an excuse me and fire away again. Hello Auntie we always chat.. I don't think I have ever ignored you, your presence is always felt... as is Allan's .. where would we be without his sense of humour.. my bones do click Allan.. and Ann of Greengables has never ever ever been ignored by me.

So what's your problem Barbra... who is "clicky" The only spelling correction I saw was done by Allan.. and if you don't like some of the comments made by others in particular Sue you shouldn't put up such a thread. If people don't always agree it does not make you right and them wrong.

"You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em

Now I expect you all to acknowledge me ....

Hello again Gwen, how's the keyboard no cinnamon and honey clogging up the keys I hope?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Nov 2011 07:21

it's quite wonderful being able to wander around clothed in my invisible pjs

quite Harry Potter-like!

hmmmmmmm ........ some cinnamon and honey covered toast sounds nice.

is it a requirement to gum up the keyboard keys though?

That's rather a waste of good honey to my mind

oh ......... OH is no longer up the ladder

he's up a gum tree instead :-)

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 5 Nov 2011 10:27

To be honest....what would make me ignore someone on here would be either...I just plain don't like them so steer clear (not even a handful of folk in that category) or if I have had a conversation with someone on one day...then find their comments have been deleted or amended the next so mine make no sense....I'd obviously be in no hurry to bother to chat to them again...

Other than those two reasons...it would be pure oversight.

~~~~~waves to all
(haven't read rest of thread just jumped in...8 pages is too long for me to plough through today I have dogs needing baths lol) x
