Julia, he was only 8 weeks old in that photo, and yes they do cost an arm and a leg to keep but not all on feed, the insurance cost £465 per year he is only 10 month old so not full grown yet and costing about £40/45 per month on food

Not a cheap dog to keep but well worth every penny

Hachi, the Loyal Akita, waited 9 years for his master, Professor Ueno, who had died at work one day. Every day at the train station the loyal Hachiko waited...and waited...and waited. Hachi was so loyal to to the Professor, he has a statue at the exact place he waited, so in a way...Hachiko is still waiting...forever and ever

The film is well worth watching, brought a tear to my eye

For anyone who thinks they can get a (cheap) genuine Akita inu,

They don't exist all good registered breeder will charge £1,500 plus and never let a dog go until you the buyer pass their strict criteria as Akita's can in the wrong hands be very dangerous

We had to go through several meetings interviews with the breeder and only when the breeder was happy that we were up to the task did they agree to sell the pup to us, and we also had to sign a very strict contract

Roy, I have never seen an Akita pup before, only adults, hence my mistake. Also I have never seen that colour either.

As me old man would say. "I'd rather keep him for a week, than a fortnight." . Must cost alot to feed.

Take Care
