Go ON....
Lets get RR'd , at least you get to say what you really think ..
Women .. say what REALLY pees you off..
My pet hate is the stupid idea that women over 50 are expected to try to look younger .. thinner ..
We are not allowed to age , we should have nips and tucks , worry about weight gain . We had kids .. your kids, it does stuff to our bodies
Why can't we be allowed to age gracefully .. OMG wrinkles ..
every darned advert is about how to avoid them .. what the heck is a cancle? I DON'T care if I am worth it! .. that woman in that ad for hair dye comes across as the most dopy offensive idea of selling to intelligent women I have yet to come across
So all these blokes 60 plus will end up with Barbie doll look alikes who have skin stretched to extremes and cannot get within 5 feet of an open fire for fear of melting.
In the meantime the balding heads and mid life expansion of the men over 50 somehow makes them a babe magnet acording to certain newspapers?
Seems to me that is only the case if their wallet is bigger than their expanding waistline ..
Just a thought and I want to age gracefully ..

:-P

Hiya Rose .. sick and tired of the adverts telling women of 50 to look 20..
WHY .. we are 50 and we have put up with 30 more years of living .. I don,t want to look as if I have been ironed , I don't care if i am no longer a size 8 stick insect ..
most of the blokes I know over 50 are ......... over 50 , going bald and with expanding waistlines .. they don't get the daft bint ad for ... OHH my hair was Oh so not silky until I used **** now my whole life has changed .. cos I'm worth it with the dappiest voice I have ever heard .. thick.. ;-)

Rambling Report 20 Jun 2012 22:32

I would like to see real women ( ie not those with cheekbones and clear skin that is clearly hereditary) in ads...I would like to see how a real 54 year old looks when these products are applied, no filters on the camera when the actress advertising the 'diet sensation' appears ( you look at her neck when there's no professional lighting...whole different ball game!).

And I would love to see the truth told when someone is described as "having dropped to 12 stone and is now in a size 10" .... rubbish!

and clothes for larger ladies that are made in really nice material, that isn't skimped on and which hangs nicely without costing a fortune.

Neubie Report 20 Jun 2012 22:33

Why do advertisers think women over 50 are soo gulible?
Why do they use the most brain dead blank faced hardly known actresses to advertise their .. wooo .. wrinkle cream removers .. hair dyes ..
Then you have the panty pads to use between periods ( if you still have them , cos you wanna smell fresh! For who ? Who the heck is gonna smell them??
Clean pants always used to work..
Tenna ads .. lots of smiling women going ..OPPPS I laughed..GRR
I am waiting for Y Front pads to make the over 50 Man about town who might just get an OOPPS smell fresh all day.. ;-)

Neubie Report 20 Jun 2012 22:44

Sorry Rose .. Hiya PH ..
Just really peed off with the thinking that women are not allowed to age gracefully .. Why can't women smell like women anymore ?
It's all about preventing ageing WHY?.. I don't want to look 20 , I am over 50 and pretty darned proud of it ..
I don't want boobs that are higher than my jaw line and I really don't care if I can't wear hipster jeans anymore if I eat more than 3 chips a month..
Still waiting for someone to bring out male panty pads
:-D

I think you need to look inward, women are the driving force behind the myth that men prefer the perfect female form,

whilst it may be the case that a man may look at much younger women that does not mean that they prefer the younger female above the much older lady

is it not true that an older woman also likes to look at some younger men even just as a bit of eye candy?

You ladies bring this on your selves by reading and believing such things,
I would never expect my wife do anything other than grow old with me gracefully, ;-)

As for pot bellied men and younger women the truth is these women are only really interested in the financial security through the size of their bank balance

Proof, If Peter stringfellow was a council worker does anyone really believe these beauties he has around him would give him a second look, and he has not even got the pot belly

Roy .. I agree but when all you get on the TV and in the media is 'you must look younger' .. this does not reflect the thinking of women that these idiots are trying to aim their advertising at..
Its a flippin insult .. twiggy looks cute in her wannabe 20 years old outfits .. but I don't want that ..Thats why she was called twiggy !
I don't want to be told by some 30 year old fashion magnet on telly that if I wear flaired jeans , high heels and a dropped belt i can wear stuff 20 year olds are wearing .. I want to wear what looks good on me

Neubie Report 20 Jun 2012 23:05

Oh come off it Roy .. Media has been playing on women getting older since the year dot..
You don't buy TV adverts ..
Although I have noticed more TV ads aimed at men over a certain age ...
Maybe things are changing?

"The skinny on Oprah's slimline look: How a new chef has helped the star drop 25lbs in just SIX weeks

..If you thought Oprah Winfrey had been looking slimmer of late, then it seems you'd be right.
The TV host, 58, has lost 25lbs in just six weeks, it was revealed today, shedding much of the weight she had gained over the past 18 months due to the pressures of running her OWN network.
The secret to her success, sources say, is a lean, low-calorie diet implemented by her new chef. "

Slimline new look: Oprah Winfrey, pictured in April (left) and more recently on June 8 (right), has lost 25lbs in just six weeks after embracing a new diet and exercise regime, it was revealed today

The fast results were also thanks to the fact that she has resumed her regular treadmill workouts with trainer Bob Greene, they added."

Do you know if I had her millions and a personal chef and trainer I rather think I might lose a few pounds also..... I might even look younger because the worry lines would ease off

:-D

I would just eat everything in sight and employ a designer to make my clothes bigger.. :-D
PS I would be 4 sizes smaller in the US anyway ;-)

SueMaid Report 20 Jun 2012 23:18

I see what you mean Neubie but I look after my skin and I like to dress nicely (age appropriate of course). I'm not trying to look younger - 60 is in the horizon but I like to think I look ok for my age. I might add that the adverts and magazines don't influence me - I'm not looking for eternal youth.

Neubie

Neubie Report 20 Jun 2012 23:32

Hi ya Sue ,, thats fine and thats not what I am ranting about .. its the condecending way adverts are aimed at our age group.
Anyway I am off to bed as I have 15 different face and eye creams to apply .. a cling film wrap that will reduce my waist by 10 inches.. a hair sirum so in the morning my hair is like silk , cucumbers on my eyes (if OH gets hungry during the night he is sorted )
Some nice smelling pads in case I wake up smelling like a woman in the morning..a bra to wear in bed in case my assetts drop below my knees in the early hours and a welcoming smile on my face for OH ;-)
Dermot , I have to agree with you there but it does leave me wondering if some of these 'celebs' have already been embalmed :-)
