Ahem, ladies, may I introduce to you..........Mrs Weatherspoon............Virginia to her friends. And I do hope we will all be firm friends.

Well, there is no edge to Virginia, and no side either. She was very open with us all, both the ladies and the gents. She did not flinch from any question, and Georgianna can be like the Spanish Inquisition when she puts her mind to it!

Virginia comes from Devon. She was in the WAAF. She has been married for nearly 50 years to her childhood sweetheart. She has three children and six grandchildren. All thriving. She has played the piano since she was a child, and she loves to play. She is the answer to all our prayers. Our Vicar popped in too on Saturday night, and he was most impressed too. I am so pleased, I felt time was running out for us all, regarding the concert. But Virginia, or Ginnie as she wants us to call her, has set aside time to learn the music and has even put forward some ideas of her own. I am pleased, as you know, I am very open to ideas, as long as they are the same as my own.

So, that is the news dears, I hope you are as pleased as we are.

Do have a lovely week dears, but pack your galoshes. Susan dear, galoshes, pack them now.

MotownGal Report 2 Jun 2014 18:09

A very quick mention to you all dears.

We now have a new organist! I shall tell all tomorrow! Just orft to church to hear the practice for the ceremony for the Centenary.

I hope we are all well. And the State Visit is coming ever closer

Such fun, so exciting.

MotownGal Report 31 May 2014 18:48

Ladies, tis Saturday night again, and I have a little soiree planned for Georgianna her husband, Octavia and hers, and a new lady who has made contact regarding the organ playing on Sunday. She has introduced herself as a Mrs Weatherspoon. I dare say we shall find out her given name in due course.

She read my notice on the Board outside the church, asking for organists, and I, being the politess of people, invited her around tonight. As you know Pat-trish-aaaah is not here, so I am a little nervous of asking a stranger into ones home, so I have the backup of the rest of the gang. I shall report back.

Susan dear, you must be looking forward to your vacation dear. What fun you will have I am sure.

Teresa, what is the M word dear? Why are you ducking for cover? Tutty tut dear, do you mean Modesty? As you know, I am the epitome of Modesty. I say YES, if you want something.................have it. We are all a long time dead dear.

I do so hope dear Lesley is tickety boo. I presume she has demands on her time, and we will hear from her in due course.

Pip Pip all, I am orft to supervise the laying of the table for my guests.

Auntie Petunia

I have been at paid toil mostly this week and being a good Neice to the Aunts

now the big pondering question to our Agony Aunt in residence is this:

If a Lady has a fancy for a small greenhouse, is this just a passing fancy or somthing which creeps up along with the "M" word.

yours ducking for cover

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Susan-nz Report 29 May 2014 07:27

Do not rely on your visitors to bring any good weather with them :-(...

Petunia, my Papa grew Orchids, when there was a good crop we were given armfuls to put into vases. :-). You must take a photograph to show us what colours you have, what type of Orchids are you growing.?

Today we have had misty fog down to ground level for most of the day, :-|. I am not amused. What a miserable excuse for a day... Yesterday we had a heavy frost. Talk about extremes...

5 sleeps :-),

MotownGal Report 28 May 2014 19:55

Good evening ladies. Another wet and wild one on these shores.

I do hope the wind changes, our celebrations for the Old Soldiers and Sailors are to start in June. I am hoping our Special Visitors will bring good weather with them.

I am sitting here looking across London dears, the skyline is very murky tonight, and the clouds are scurrying across the sky. The Telecomms Tower is winking at me, and the Shard is covered in cloud. Nearly Summer then!

My orchids are coming into bud dears, I have forgotton what colours they are, so it will be a treat for me to see them bloom into colour. I do so love orchids, they are so exotic.

Like me really!

Susan-nz Report 25 May 2014 20:55

Monday morning again.... though that means there are only eight sleeps until 'D' day.,. yikes. How exciting.

I haven't started packing yet, it does sound as though I need to bring my woollies and gumboots and some lighter clothing for when the sun comes out. :-D.

Petunia,, a BBQ sounds like fun... Hopefully the day will be naice and warm. Good idea having the medics on standby.... I must say there is nothing quite like the smell of charred sausages. ;-).

Thanks for your offer Teresa. I am awaiting instructions from the Fruit as to what I may or may not purchase....

I have a busy week ahead of me this week. Roll on next Monday..

Have a good week ladies, I shall pop in before next Monday.

Toodle pip :-)

MotownGal Report 25 May 2014 19:43

Good evening dear ladies, how are we all?

Well we are still organist-less. Still no word from Beattie nor Millie. I think we will not hear from them now. They have burned their boats, and are living in a cats home! Such is the price of sin.

We had torrential rain yesterday, and we have had wall to wall sunshine today. The only beneficiary of this is my window boxes. They are blooming marvellous!

We are to hold a bar-b-que tomorrow at the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home. Mrs Berry has bakes cakes, and one of the old soldiers has volunteered to be chef for the day. I have alerted the St John's Ambulance and they are sending two of their staff along for the day, should they be needed. If not, they can join in the festivities. Jolly good.

I wish you all a pleasant Bank Holiday dears, although I shall be peace for the wicked dears!

Auntie Petunia

Cooper Report 24 May 2014 11:50

Auntie dear, keep the bonnet and parasol for another time. You need sowesters and hunter wellies, still designer dear, and a small rowing boat ;-), dont forget the small dog :)

lesley did you nee the "heals" on sale with diamonds etc, they were the same price as a 2 bed flat here :-S :-S :-S

Mr Bubble tired? Get him some sanatergen, full of vitamins etc etc etc :-D Susan
you may find small garments cost a little less than an arm and leg here. What are you after, there is a naice baby outlet not so far away which have a good range. Give me a shout and I can have a recky around to see whats about :-D

orf in search of a good fake bake blend :-D :-D :-D

Susan-nz Report 23 May 2014 09:54

We enjoyed Mr Bubble indeed though he looked quite tired.. We tapped our feet in perfect time to the music.

Shopped up a storm today. Question : how can items so tiny cost so much...?
Beggars belief. Merino all the way dears, there lies the answer perhaps. I did purchase a new top for myself , as in blouse not my own top half. I may wear it to compliment Petunia with her parasol..

Yawn, OH has rugby on the TV..

I am off to make a cup of rosy lea.

Toodle :-)

MotownGal Report 22 May 2014 20:11

I am so sorry dear Lesley, I forgot the vogue was Jammy Chews, or Manolo Blankets. Silly me!

Our Susan must have longer arms now, buying all the necessary stuff for the new arrival. How lovely for her and her family. A new baby smell! All warm and talcum powder. Aaaaaah.

There is, I believe, an advertisement starring said Mr Bubble. What a patronising advert it is. He ruffles another man's hair, as if he is a child. I think I would smack the bounder back!

However, back to the question in hand. I do so hope that dear Susan had a lovely time.

We have resumed work on the Ark after this afternoon. Such rain! Stair rods!

Inspecting my tootsies again, for webbing.

Auntie Petunia.

[if any of the new 6 peepers who have looked in on us would like to join us for afternoon tea on this thread. Please do]

Diamonds-R-A-Girls-Best-Friend Report 22 May 2014 11:30

Do I think you are joshing Auntie dear...not for one moment :-S

Tut tut white stilettos are no longer part of the Essex uniform :-0 Christian's or Jimmy's are a must...of course other brands are available:-D

Talking of babies...Susan are your arms aching from carrying all the new purchases:-) and did you enjoy seeing baby face Buble in concert?

Lesley x

MotownGal Report 21 May 2014 19:55

Of course Lesley dear, a lace parasol and a dolly bag.

You think I am joshing, dont you dear?

Time will will see!

Diamonds-R-A-Girls-Best-Friend Report 21 May 2014 19:53

Dear Auntie Petunia I trust you will also be carrying a lace parasol.

Ah no mention of a full sleeve tattoo:-S

Lesley x

MotownGal Report 21 May 2014 19:42

Oh dear, I can feel a migraine coming on!

The Essex Uniform. I dont know if I can bear it.

White stillettos figure greatly I believe, along with mini skirts and tattooed eyebrows!

I, of course, shall be the model of decorum.

I am favouring a hobble skirt, a fitted jacket, straw bonnet, and high button boots.

You may laugh ladies, but you aint seen nothing yet.

Susan, you must be bursting with pride at the impending birth. How lovely for you.

Orft to sort out the millinery cupboard.

Pip Pip

Diamonds-R-A-Girls-Best-Friend Report 21 May 2014 19:08

Dear Teresa as thoroughbred Essex gals it is obligatory that we wear our uniforms :-| ;-) :-D

~~~~~~~~~~to Petunia, Susan and anyone else that is looking in <3
Exit stage left singing I'm so excited :-D
Cooper Report 21 May 2014 05:48
Ah Auntie, im glad Pat rish aaaa is doing good works in Spain :-D. Its such a relief to know it was not she who was making such a show of herself the other weekend.
It is very odd but there were many tubes of veet on sale in the local branchbof the chemist. I wonder if a new trend is on its way :-S :-S :-S :-S
Now as for the matter of the church organ, I suggest dear that it may be prudent to put a notice in the small ads. Of course you need a person of quality and breeding but desperate times call for desperate measures :-D
Mr Bubble Susan, how loverly :-D he seems like a naice young man, I have a CD of his Christmas songs, played of course all year round :-D
Baby shopping, how lovely. If its clothes you are after there are some wonderful things not only in the high street but in the bigger well known supermarkets here. Keep a small corner free to fill ;-)
Now Aunty, back to the practical matters you are so good at.
I have a very special event on the horizon. Im meeting some very special guests and a lady of some breeding and decorum. What would one wear in such a situation?
I was thinking of the" Essex gal" uniform................ the orange glow, big hair, heals that are impossible to stand in, make up that takes all week to apply and even longer to remove, oh and of course, a handbag of designer proportions and a small dog to pop in it :-D
yours looking for the make up brushes
Susan-nz Report 20 May 2014 21:10
Morning Ladies,
Well, what a pea souper we have here this morning... Fruit and I walked the pup in the dark and fog :-D, I wouldn't have gone out by myself..
I hope the sky clears soon as Fruit has work out of town this morning, I don't like her on the road in bad weather... :-(.
The days are racing by, goodness me. Panic hasn't set in just yet, probably by the end of next week things will be a little hectic.. I am sure it will all come out in the wash... it jolly well has too.
Fruit and I are off to the big smoke tomorrow afternoon. We are off to a Michael Bubble concert :-D, also a bit of baby shopping. Now that will be fun. :-
Petunia, how lovely for Patty to spend some time in Spain, all those lovely Tapas and vino... Oh, she is picking the grapes. Pardon me. ;-). Patty will be as tanned as a nut by the time she comes home. Lucky gal. I am more a 'glow in the dark' complexion :-|.
The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain..... rats, that is going to be stuck in my head now..
Humpty Dumpty has been sold for $11000.00 dollars at a toy show, he is one of three original eggs from the TV series with Jemima and co... Crikey, where does one put a 'Humpty Dumpty" ????, why would you even want a oversized toy egg?
Each to their own...
Time to face another day, roll on tomorrow afternoon.
Toodle pip
MotownGal Report 20 May 2014 20:20
#waves letter in the air triumphantly#
There now, I knew I was right all along. The stamp is franked in Spain, so I KNOW that Pat-trish-aaaah is still over there. She has said she wants to stay with her cousins for the Summer. Seeing as she is neither use nor ornament here, I have agreed that she should come home in September. Her Papa has also confirmed that she may stay, and help with the olive picking, and harvesting the grapes. It will do her good to be in the sunshine, also her grasps of Spanish needs a little encouraging. So all in all, a good idea all around. I never imagined that Pat-trish-aaah could be, singing and showing herself on television. #shudders# perish the thought!
We are still looking for someone to tinkle the ivories now that Beattie has done a bunk! Not only for church, but also for the Centenary Celebrations at the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home. We are having celebrations all through June, so we need someone who can at least vamp.....................any offers anyone?
Not long now until we have Royalty landing on our shores. Such fun. I am all aquiver.
I hope everyone is keeping cool in this humid weather. Keep well dears, and we will speak soon.
