I think that's it Kay, it is the longer you look at it the worse it gets and for those who pop in and go again that's not such a problem, but if one is here a lot, and a lot of people are, whether that's because they chat a lot, or help a lot on the FA board, then it becomes very much a strain and the text seems to merge, especially so I imagine (though I haven't looked) if one were trying to wade through one of the long posts that you get where a 'searcher' details the whole family without spaces. :-0

As you say other sites manage the colour contrasts & text ok, to suit both those with good and poor eyesight.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 1 Aug 2012 22:39

The more time spent the worse it seems,,,,,,,,seemd ok first thing but not good as times gone on. ,find having to squint to see text plain,,,,,,,no I dont wear specks.
the colour combinations are all wrong even with good eyesight....

why they never looked at other sites to see how easy it was on the eyes I'll never know, think they went abit far with the minimalist wipe clean look .... :-D :-D :-D :-D

Oh my what have they done? I have been out for the day and just come on and cant believe my eyes. I agree with many others, it is so glaring, its hurting me to stay on here for longer than afew minutes.

What was wrong with the site how it was? Why did it have to change?
I never understand why things in gneral that work well suddenly have to be revamped or have the packaging changed at such an awful expense and inconvenience to the customers.
Most of us pay dearly for our membership and i expect when the renewal comes around, the fees will go up no doubt. I will think twice when renewal time comes, thats for sure.
I already have the zoom at 125% but now i feel the need to go up higher!

Its nonsense for GR to say they cant put any other background colour on other than white, because they changed it to white, which means they can just change it back.

I had a lovely day and feel this has ruined my evening. Not a happy bunny.!!!!

Rant over

I was also using the old tree from a saved link. I did occasionally use the new tree to update photos etc, and the flexibility to use both trees seemed to work for everyone. Now however new and old trees have gone to be replaced by 'washed-out' tree. If they want to use a white background then I would be happier if they used blue and pink boxes and allowed us to add photos to the little images.

None of my photos currently appear in the little boxes, I feel like this is a half-finished tree, not a professional one.

I would pay more just to access the old tree again, I don't see why its wrong to be happy with what you already have and use daily rather than always wanting something to be updated. Updated and new doesn't always mean better.

Hello Porkie, what a fool I am!

You are quite right, it is gawn. The beggars!

I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT.

Will not be renewing when it comes around again.

Very disappointed in the new improved site.

MotownGal, (but have managed to get back onto the Old Tree)

are you sure?

Posted on FB today

Genes Reunited The old tree has been removed. People were still accessing the old tree by a saved link but we have removed access to this now. Please give the new tree a try, I'm sure you will find it vastly improved.

What the 'eck 'appened?

I was only away for one day, and its ALL different.

Still dont like the new tree, but have managed to get back onto the Old Tree. Whats with the little puppets denoting male and female? Not as classy as another tree I could think of................

The community pages look a bit spartan too.

I dunno.................I only renewed a few weeks ago, and since then it has all changed and not for the better.

I wont bother sending a note to the support team, you only get a standard reply.

Really thinking hard about not renewing subscription when it comes around again.

Somehow it manages to be washed out and glaring at the same time.

One thing I have only just noticed,( caught up as I was in the 'excitement' of not being able to read without upping zoom, paracetomol intake etc...

NO FR ads at top of page? No FR Dating to slip onto by mistake if the cursor went too high.... is this significant or just a temporary state? :-D

Sorry, I really don't like this. Far too glaring, surely there must be a more subtle colour to use. Even a new book isn't this bright!!! :-(

heres the reply from Genes.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us regarding the colour scheme on the message boards. Unfortunately it is not possible to select another colour.

Inevitably, we do receive a lot of feedback and suggestions from our members but please be assured that your email will be individually read by our Management team and that ALL member feedback is taken into account when deciding on future website development.

Thanks again for your views.

the colour is sooo hard on the eyes, especially for those of us with eyesight problems.

hope there is some way to change the colour.
