Elaine, I expect it's also due to the fact that they know you are an animal lover and wouldn't baulk at the sight of dead animals altho it's a horrible job and someone has to do it!

Enjoy your trip away and let the school find someone else to be in charge while you are away (or is it just a weekend trip)

Take care, hope all your bruises have healed now

love
Lizxx

Could it be because you are the janitor?

Had to take dog out, she knows the time. I only work part time but am on call on a regular basis as I live on the doorstep. I suppose I do love it and I have been there longer than anyone else and know where everything is. Have been called in when the alarm went off at 1 am and the caretaker was away. It is nice to be needed and it keeps me from sliding into senility. Well now for bed, mi day off tomorrow and I have to shop for last minute things before going to the German Christmas markets at the weekend.Nite nite. Elaine.

You obviously love working there, ..For all the downsides there are so many plus times too.

I am way behind you and have only clocked up 33 years helping in one way or another at my local school, but have never had to do most of those tasks asked of you.

We'd miss them if we left, but I am only a volunteer now.

Do you know Gwyn you have made my day I feel great now. Do you think that it is why I am still working there after 45 years. ;-) :-D

The problem is that you have most likely completed many of these tasks in a super-efficient manner in the past, so now everyone thinks of you as the person to call on.

They wouldn't manage without you.

I work at school and on a regular basis I am called to do the most perculier tasks. Can you move the dead hedgehog, rat, bird, squirrel. Someones been sick in the toilets, stuffed a whole t roll down the pan, peed, messed on the floor. Can you change a plug on the..., swap the bottom of the broken vac onto the working one as the base on the working one has broken. Can you get all the ladybirds out of Ellis House ( the 17th centuary part of the school). There's a dead pigeon in the attic crawling in maggots etc etc. WHY ME? :-D :-D :-D :-D
