Just had one - well not a carol - "We wish you a merry Christmas" which is not a carol anyway - he got no Christmas cheer from me I can tell you - far too early - I haven't even got my sign on the door yet which will read "No Christmas Carollers thank you"

I just keep a list in very small letters next to the smaller 'beware of the rottweilers with tourettes' sign.

No xmas carols, penny for the guys, trick or treats, jo hos, morons, preachers, salesmen, junk mail or aliens. Thank you.'

I have a permanent sign to that effect already Eldrick - have a special one for Christmas carollers!!!

Isn't it sad that they don't know any carols to sing. I have been known to open the door and say 'I will give you something if you sing a proper carol.' I don't actually mind if they sing the whole of 'we wish you a merry christmas', second verse etc., and sing it properly.

LOL Eldrick, you could make a mint selling those signs. We never get carollers down this close as you can only see one bungalow from the end as the road bends out of view. They probably think it isn't worth the walk to look. The JW's did find us a couple of years ago though.....more's the pity!.

Ann, I need three verses at least, and a chorus, and not until the week before Christmas, or they get short shrift from me.

Well, me and my merry band of singers will be singing PROPER carols in a few weeks, including one in Latin! So ner ner ner.... :-D :-D :-D

...and we will be collecting for CRISIS so I shall be doing a lot of accosting of strangers and collecting... in between singing!

I will be going round with a group of lovely and intense friends singing obscure carols on evening of Friday 14th December. Please leave your front doors open that night and be ready to give us anything that you feel is fitting :-)

BC I just love carol singing in these crowded places at this time of year. It makes it really special and breaks the trance of trying to push everyone out of the way to buy what you don't need and what everybody else doesn't want.

I've not liked carols since I had to spend Christmas in hospital some time back - schoolchildren came round singing carols for those of us left in over Christmas - we all cried our eyes out - they've never been the same for me since that day

Reminds me, had a couple of JW's call last Christmas time - not good timing for them. Must nip up the loft and see if they're still there actually ...... :-D ;-)
