Cynthia, congratulations and happy anniversary to you and your husband.
Your passage from the Bible today brought back many memories for me. It was our "school reading" and I heard it in assembly the first and last day of every term for 7 years.
Thank you Vera

Those are lovely words to start the day with Joy. Thank you. :-)
As today is my 45th wedding anniversary, I thought I would share with you the very familiar bible reading which is used at many church weddings. The words say it all........ :-)
The Gift of Love
If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.
But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.
For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end.
When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.
And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

Thank you. :-)
Dear God,
I welcome the new day.
May I not rush around so much that I miss the beauty that is all around me.
May I thank one person today.
May I smile more than I frown.
May I think loving thoughts more than self defeating thoughts.
Thank you for this day!
Amen

Ann... .... that's good.
If anyone has any favourites, please feel free to post or give me an idea of what they like, and I'll see what I can find. :-)
I've realised that John hasn't posted on here since 25th - in fact, I'm not sure I've seen him around for a day or so....has anyone else? :-S

Now the light has gone away; Saviour, listen while I pray. Asking Thee to watch and keep And to send me quiet sleep.
Jesus, Saviour, wash away All that has been wrong today; Help me every day to be Good and gentle, more like Thee.
Let my near and dear ones be Always near and dear to Thee. O bring me and all I love To Thy happy home above.

Good morning - although it isn't much like June where I am..... :-S
For those who are feeling discouraged................
When we feel we have nothing left to give And we are sure that the “song has ended”, When our day seems over and the shadows fall And the darkness of night has descended - Where can we go to find the strength To valiantly keep on trying, Where can we find the hand that will dry The tears that the heart is crying?
There’s but one place to go and that is to God And, dropping all pretense and pride, We can pour out our problems without restraint and gain strength with Him at our side. And together we stand at life’s crossroads And view what we think is the end, But God has a much bigger vision And He tells us it’s only a bend.
For the road goes on and is smoother, And the “pause in the song” is a “rest”, And the part that’s unsung and unfinished Is the sweetest and richest and best– So rest and relax and grow stronger, Let go and let God share your load, Your work is not finished or ended, You’ve just come to “a bend in the road”.

Thank you both. The tune IS quite a calming one, I agree Kandj :-)
This is taken from the Guardian newspaper and has been running for almost a month.
Who are the Christians in Britain today? On any given Sunday, there will be at least 2.5m people in churches of various sorts, but each congregation tends to be an island with little contact with others. So, we want you to share your photographs and videos of your own congregations, everywhere from converted units on an industrial estate to magnificent medieval cathedrals.
This is the link to see the fantastic photos which have been submitted. It really does show that the church is alive and thriving in many, many, areas. By 'the church' I mean C. of E. - RC and all denominations in between. Well worth a look..... :-) :-) :-)

Not that there are any sceptics out there of course......... :-D

Wonderful words and so very true. I do know of the hymn you mentioned Cynthia and now find the tune going round and round in my head in a calming gentle way. A good start to a busy morning methinks. Thank you.

Good morning....... :-)
Another Scottish Blessing today..........it reminds me very much of the words of a modern hymn......."Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me".
If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
So let it be.
I hope everyone has a peaceful day...... :-)

Good morning........ :-D
Ecouragement - something we all need from time to time.
There is really nothing we need to know or even try to understand - if we refuse to be discouraged and trust God’s guiding hand.
So take heart and meet each minute with faith in God’s great love - aware that every day of life is controlled by God above.
And never dread tomorrow or what the future brings - just pray for strength and courage and trust God in all things.
And never grow discouraged be patient and just wait - for “God never comes too early and He never comes too late!”
